wow, A LJH drama since move to heaven? all his drama after that has been a hit back to back. I Haven't seen of…
Signal is 2016! I tried watching Taxi Driver and Chief Det but they didn't scratch that itch despite them being objectively decent shows. I also don't really count his small cameos so yeah, Move to Heaven was the last drama of his as a lead where I finished and really liked it!

I am loving this drama. It's not laugh out loud funny but it's entertaining nonetheless. There's a lot of little details that add complexity to the scenes and an overall good pacing that keeps the interactions snappy without sacrificing depth. I get how some may see the show being a bit heavy-handed with its simplistic approach at portraying the main group as intellectually and morally superior but it's not enough to overshadow its positive aspects. I hope the show keeps it tight and focused for the remaining episodes so I can finally finish an office kdrama since Reborn Rich and a Lee Je Hoon drama since Move to Heaven.

I agree about the driver being left behind being a glaring oversight, it took me out of the scene there even though…
Yeah I think I just went into this with different expectations and as such had my immersion breaking more easily than others. Once I tempered my expectations, I was able to enjoy myself a lot more. Also, the action has been really quick and snappy which works well. This and Study Group has me almost enjoying the action and fighting scenes more than the others. Thanks for the rec on Knight Flowers, will add it to the backlog!

Ahh I was unaware it was based on a manhwa, which now makes much more sense as to why some of the transitions felt off to me. As I wasn't even aware it was based on one, I don't have a horse in the race either way, as long as I keep finding it enjoyable to watch really.

It's a comedy genre just take it as one stop overanalyzing everything and enjoy and if you don't like comedy dramas…
Haha yep, hence why I said I had to turn my brain off. Thanks for reminding me it's a comedy though, I think I got it in my head it was going to be more serious than it is.

Plot holes and inconsistencies?
Thanks for approaching this as a discussion and no worries about coming off as combative as it's clear you're being respectful. Your reply got me rethinking what I said and I will readily admit that plot holes is poor phrasing on my part. There are still definite inconsistencies (mostly tonal) and lack of attention to detail though: the whole deal with the driver being an afterthought, the buddha statue arm being shot off earlier but in closeup shots of it in the car ride, it's intact, then when it was unwrapped there was no visible gunshot on the bubble wrap except no wait magically the arm is shown with a clean break off to the side on the ground along with the bullet, and the fact that despite Mi Jeong raising a hella good point on the legitimacy of the tip, they brushed it off with the team leader's nervous insistence on the one picture and his desperation at it being the only course of action. If my entire career relied on the mission being a success, I'd want to know more about the one tipoff that instigated it all. I understand others might see that as questioning orders and overstepping certain boundaries or more likely just don't care, but it's a big sticking point for me.

I will also have to respectfully disagree that him being a student gives him more freedom because as a student, he has to follow a rigid class schedule, has no authority, and has to navigate a bunch of social landmines due to him being in extended close proximity of minors to glean information from them; that's not to mention his boss also emphasizing the school follows military culture and has strict discipline and rules. I had hoped that the justification was something more plausible like he needed to get close to a particular student who would most likely have information and they wouldn't be able to get close without raising suspicious as an adult or something.

All that said though, I feel like I have to reiterate I'm actually finding the show entertaining so my comments are mostly nitpicks about things that I had hoped the show would've done better on and less me saying these are dealbreakers. I can see that my opinion is unpopular, which happens and I admit I could've gone about it better so it didn't sound like I was shitting on the show. I appreciate you taking the time to politely refute my points and sharing your own though. You really had me reexamining whether the tonal inconsistencies I felt were unjustified because the show is self-aware about its goofiness.

And about the driver, who cares? He's just an extra. He was not even given more than 5 seconds airtime.
It's not a big deal at all in the grand scheme of things but it shows they don't care to get the small details right, which is fine. I just personally found it funny Kang Joon was slowly walking away from the explosion holding the guy and treasure looking all cool but in the meantime I guess the driver must've somehow jumped out before crashing, rolled away from the car and subsequent explosion, and got caught all without getting in the way of Kang Joon's hero shot.

It's only E01 and you already detected plot holes and inconsistencies? Wow!
Yes, it may surprise you that you can find plot holes and inconsistencies in the very first episode. You can disagree with me, but just in case you can't tell by my first follow up reply, I am actually enjoying this show so no need to have your hackles raised.

Plot holes and inconsistencies?
Spoilers!
For plot holes, it's mainly the fact I find the whole looking for lost gold and the government only just now realizing it could be at the school laughable and the fact they're hinging it on a single agent that is way too old to try to be a student, instead of trying other angles or for him to be any other faculty member (I get their explanation on teachers, but not even a janitor or IT guy or something?) is unrealistic. There are also quite a lot of inconsistencies due to the way they're treating the material. Because they want to make him badass but also make him seem goofy to be more relatable, some of his actions just don't make sense for a top tier agent that's supposed to be the best. Even if you try to wave it all away with the fact it's supposed to be comedy, I find some of the transitions a bit jarring because the show tries to tack on too many clichés to the story. DESPITE all these flaws though, I actually find myself enjoying it because I realized the show doesn't take itself seriously and the cast are more or less having fun just inhabiting these characters and playing around.

It's fun but the amount of plot holes and inconsistencies mean you'll have to turn your brain off lest you spend every other minute exclaiming about how dumb/absurd some of the developments are. Also idk how the driver possibly survived that but aight.

Edit: Before I get more comments telling me to stop taking a comedy drama so seriously or that what I say doesn't matter, I get that you may disagree and I can see my opinion is not liked here, I understand. If you enjoyed the first episode, congratulations, I did also. At least we have that in common if nothing else :)

Idk if I'm crazy but has anyone else noticed a pattern with Ji Goo and high school/school in general? I'm sure…
Ji Goo has hinted at that her high school days weren't great, likely because of a mix of factors stemming from her strict mother and her having to rein in her no bullshit attitude in front of others in order to pass in polity society. She loves helping kids and thinks they are super important, which is why she became a teacher and would've likely continued if that traumatic incident didn't happen. This is the show showing her growth and also possibly hinting at her finally confronting that grief because while her origami YT days were fine, she still harbors a lot of resentment and turmoil for that period. I'm thinking we get at least another season of this show where we get a bit more closure with her (her possibly being a teacher or at least a helper at the polytechnic school for juvies).

Also, I completely agree that this season dropped the ball for the first 2 eps and took longer than usual to ramp up to its usual goodness but once it got there, it was back and I am having SO much fun watching this show. There's a lot of good wholesome slice of life stuff here but it's not got a great international appeal, especially harder to be noticed with the market being inundated with so many hot actor dramas and Netflix with their thrillers and romcoms these days.

Title Reborn Rich
Hyun Min is definitely not a good person but she is an interesting one and she has the very important addition in that her scenes with Joongki's character Do Jun have so much chemistry. Everybody understands why logically Do Jun would prefer Min Young who is cute and only wants to support him without any strings attached but most of us just don't FEEL it. This shows a failure from the staff/crew in not giving us even 5 min of character development for Min Young so the audience can get behind her.
I get both sides of the argument from the manipulative toxicity to the ambitious but strong and cunning aspects of Hyun Min but the reality is Do Jun's main motivation is his family in his past life and his family and friends he's made in this new one so the two girls honestly don't matter that much. If the show had hinted at something b/w Do Jun and Min Young before the 2nd life and or even given her a more integral part of the story, then I can see it but so far, Hyun Min is still ending up with Seong Jun and aiding him, Min Young is working on her college exams and not at all at the stage where she can or even knows to help him, and nobody whom he considers his family has any power. He only has his foresight and hard work but nobody who can stand on equal terms to help him.
It's why Yang Cheol (grandpa) makes such a good foil/antagonist for Do Jun since he is also alone despite seemingly having all the power, networks, and a family (with the kicker that he knows he can't rely on because they only care about their own greed and ambition). Since the romance is very much an afterthought and the real meat of the show is the conflict b/w Sung Min + Soonyang and Joong Ki + Miracle, I hope the show refocuses on the relationships that does matter and don't get distracted by additions that would detract from the central conflict.

Am i the only one who finds this entertaining?
Nah, not the only one. This one didn't have a lot of hype b4hand especially internationally hence lack of buzz in mdl and it's only been 2 eps but it's looking to be pretty popular for the gp in Korea. The lovable dorks that are these comedians and the one actor, and idol makes me wanna root for them in pursuing these seemingly 'out-of-their-league' models/actresses. There's just enough sincerity and light-heartedness to make this better than most of the other forced celebrity 'dating' shows.

This is a pretty good drama. It may not be as good as the japanese oen but it was special in its own way too. Frankly, Jiro was the better actor but Wu Chun will always be my favorite. It really is sad to know that Wu Chun won't be as involved in the entertainment industry but I respect his wishes.

It's good and I personally like Yamamoto Yusuke so I might be biased. At any rate, it's sad and it has a slightly alluring aura throughout the entire drama. I cried at one point and it's nice to see a collaboration between Yusuke and Koji since Atashinchi no Danshi.
