Kim Jung Hyun - what a discovery for me! He is such an amazing actor !!! This drama is worth to watch just for him. I watched it twice trying to understand what is wrong with the script because it made the story harder to follow but decided to just ignore the faults and enjoy how he portrayed Kokdu.
Watched him in Crash landing on you (he was magnificent) and he shines brightly again in Kokdu. His acting is brilliant ! (My selfish wish is to see him in a drama with any of my two fav actresses - Gong Seung-Yeon or Jung So-Min :) )
This was a great drama that made me want to see more (or rewatch it right away). Love the whole vibe, the story, new world, acting, action scenes, emotional scenes....just everything was great. One note: I had no previous expectations, avoided spoilers and binge watched it in one day. One more side note: Black smoke and shotguns/revolvers reminded me of SPN (Supernatural) and Lost too ...lol
Binged watched both parts in one day without any expectations or spoilers previously. More than any other thing, I loved the whole atmosphere of the show. It really gives a "watching a webtoon becoming a movie" kind of vibe. So many moments and scenes feel like they were filmed just the way they were drawn and I had to replay them to enjoy their beauty. (I love comics and webtoons but I haven't seen this one before.)
The story progressed in a steady and exciting pace and it was easy to enter this new fantasy world. I was wandering if they will explain the whole Johan's backstory but that remained a mystery (maybe for part 3 or another drama?)
Acting was excellent. There was no boring moment or episode. Great actions scenes. High rewatch value.
There was no reason to split this one in two parts and it really should be rated as one 12 eps drama here.
Unique drama. Do not expect anything you have ever seen. I liked the view of life idols live so I gave it a 9 (story and editing could have been better). So many truths came out in this drama and I loved it for that. The story feels so real.
This actor....he deserves to be a world superstar. He's got the looks, his acting is great, he is a singer and dancer too, and so much more... I wish him well and hope to see him more in new projects.
I really enjoyed this drama so much that I stretched watching it for 3 days. Don't care about webtoon and all tropes they used (even though I didn't like some of them) . It is a beautiful, meaningful and heartwarming story. The overall vibe reminded me of Extraordinary You in some ways but this is a completely different story.
OMG I just lost my Cha Eun Woo virginity! This is my first drama of his that I'm watching and he is so hot!
Your comment made me laugh and smile the whole day and I will never forget it. I just lost Cha Eun Woo virginity too...lol This guy is s gorgeous...Off now to watch every single drama he filmed :)
I loved it, especially the eng subtitles for every song (on Viki). So many famous performers and the hosts were great. It was even more than I expected since they made it a presentation of Korean culture, dramas, movies and sport.
I just finished binging this whole show in one day and I loved it. Romcom with a fantasy element is just the right cup of tea for me. The story is focused on ML-FL relationship progress and the pacing is just as it should be. FL is a pleasant surprise both as a character and as an actress. ML too. Loved his story and the way he was portrayed as a gumiho, a non human being that lived almost a 1000 years. Also, I will remember that line form ep 14 "I think things are just about to get dangerous" ;)
This sequel was an abomination, only people who could like this are 13 yr olds. It's just that bad and a shame…
You summed it up perfectly and I agree with you. As you can see, even the comments for Part 2 are on a level of 13 yr olds - "Don't watch it if you don't like it" and "Don't tell others not to watch it" or "Don't spread hate"..... They forget that attacking people for having an different opinion is the definition of being hateful, offensive and above all immature.
SPOILER KIND OF Okay Im at 12 episodes and Im really enjoying, I just wanted to say Jang Uk's on and off behaviour…
You do sound like you see him from Mudeok's perspective...lol He irks her so much. I'll try to explain the way I understood his behavior. - Jang Uk wanted to have powers to be like everyone else, but mostly to be recognized as a real son of his father. When Park Jin told him he is not his true son he lost all of his motivation (ep 4). He feels his world is crumbling down. - He doesn't want to do anything in Jinyowon because Mudeok said his feelings for her are poison and he also thinks she likes Seo Yul, not him. He is "poisoned" and acts like it. Mudeok is his main motivation to do anything (as he promised back at the big tree in ep 5). - In ep 12 he already got his motivation back (to win back blue egg for Mudeok) and he doesn't want to be excluded anymore, especially because it's something that has to do with soulshifters.

Alchemy of Souls Season 2: Light and Shadow should be removed since it finished airing in 2023 (08. 01.2023.)
