[so... I never wrote any comment on MDL before... mostly because I'm not sure I can handle potentially heated…
i hate that right now Top is the only redeemable character (in under 5 episodes). I think Sand is redeemable in fewer episodes than that, but if he and Ray are end game, then unless he strongly calls Ray on his DUI issues, then his redemption arc means less. Unless they stretch this out with more episodes, I don't know how anyone else can get their acts together with the time remaining. eek
it's so bad it's good for me. LOL. I keep laughing at how seriously they're taking themselves, especially since the acting and story aren't so great. But I'm enjoying it for some reason. The mains are charming in their own quirky way.
lmao! your review made me laugh so much. Pretty accurate imo. To add onto your review/rant: I thought he as the WORST person to pick for a bodyguard EVER. Like he has zero training or skills in the role and yet they keep him around as the main protection for someone who they're supposed to want to keep alive and safe. I agree with everything else you wrote. Their acting really took me out of their scenes, the writing has a lot to be desired. What a surprise to see Perth in the show. I wanted more of him since his character seemed to the the compelling of everyone, but it wasn't meant to be.
i wanted it to be better but I think they put all their eggs in the baskets for the 1st 2 episodes and then waffled back and forth on what they wanted the rest of the show to commit to being and the story they wanted to tell for the remaining episodes.
So unfortunate since the actors had strong chemistry most of the time. There were also some pretty funny instances due to embarrassment, attempts to avoid embarrassment and misunderstandings.
Edit: to be clear, I did enjoy it and binged it. I just wanted to enjoy it much more than I did.
i watched it because of the comments. I was prepared for the mess of the beginning and my expectations were managed. It really was a showcase of the agency's talent roster and I was entertained from beginning to end. Even during the so-bad-it's-good parts of the show.
Thanks to everyone who left comments and reviews. I might have skipped this one otherwise.
happy or sad ending? I mean need know if it ends hoprful
both. it's a prequel to the webtoon, so there's potential "happy" but how we get to that point has plenty of ups and downs. There are multiple endings in the final episode and though not entirely sad I wouldn't say they're happy either. maybe neutral with a sprinkle of hope for the future.
reminds me of the movie "Songbird" (https://youtu.be/IgxXSfto6Vo) but will probably be better since a series has more time to deliver a nuanced story. Especially being based on a webtoon with more meat.
"The queer love of friends who want to be more is also the foil to the aggressively platonic bromance of Khatha and Dome, which is certainly a choice."
Thanks for this. I've only watched the 1st episode, but after reading multiple reviews, this sentence seems to poetically sum it all up.
I'm so proud of Suzy (and IU) they are such great actresses now, as someone who actually saw most of their dramas…
good to see this. I'll give her another shot. Saw her acting years ago and thought the best role she had was in Dream High but couldn't vibe with her roles after that. But I'll give her another shot since several have mentioned the notable improvement. thanks.
the Uncut version of part 2 makes the story make more sense. It also made Xie Yan more likeable. I recommend watching…
I watched it on youtube, but it's not there anymore. There are several scenes deleted from the version released in China, so I would recommend skipping that one if you have the option. It doesn't really make much sense unless you know the story in advance. Otherwise, find the one that says "uncut" and you'll be happy you did.

I'm also thinking that he's plotting more than we think he is and not just against her.
