I wouldn't say overrated, but I would say that I've laughed out loud in each episode. If you're on the fence, wait till it ends and see how the overall ratings change and what the re-watch value score is. I think that'll be pretty high 'cause of the funny moments balanced with heart when you don't expect it. I'd also suggest you give the drama at least 3 episodes to decide if you'll finish it. Hope that helps and makes sense.
Added several to my ptw queue. Thanks. Very thorough and much appreciated. I didn't like the first episode of Pretty Man so had written him off, but didn't realize I'd seen him in other dramas and liked him (enough). Your article showed me another side of him and strangely enough, I really enjoy watching actors with strong work ethics like you've described in his background. So I'm giving him a few more shots.
Can't properly review because I didn't finish watching. I really tried to care about the characters, but the male lead was annoying for too many who episodes. He was petty, childish and had few redeeming qualities. I didn't believe for a minute that anyone could fall in love/lust with him.
The secondary male was much more watchable and really charming but he was only supporting and couldn't carry the show.
Female lead was engaging but the premise wasn't working for me since she really wasn't ugly and the birthmark wasn't offputting in the least. I didn't understand why everyone kept calling her ugly when she came across as very self confident and unconcerned (mostly) with her appearance. So it was also annoying and contradictory that she would want the attention of a guy that kept calling her ugly to her face.
Sorry. I just couldn't take it any more.
I think I watched the same drama as Meganjoy12. However I should point out that the first four episodes were exposition/backstory overload and dragged forever but once the talks of plastic surgery take place the drama really starts. So I'd suggest starting with episode 4 or skipping from one to four or wading through all of the very long first few episodes.
After that i really enjoyed the show. Sure there were melodramatic tropes but what do you expect? Ha.
And Chris Wu is super watchable. Something about him just demands your attention whenever he's on screen.
Totally recommend this show for a weekend marathon.
Is it my imagination or it's reality that the first episode really suck ! I feel it's full of Should I Smile scenes…
did you stick with it? What were your thoughts? I've just finished ep2 and it's so up and down. When Ji Woo and Dt. Lee meet up, it pulls me back in and I'm interested in finding out who killed Kevin, but then we drift to another storyline and I forget to care again. Should I keep going or drop it? Were you able to continue beyond the first few eps?
