I was curious to see how you derive the 3.58%. But did you really do a linear regression over a sample size of 3? Because that gives me your number. Or did you take all the individual ratings of all dramas, which is more reliable. Besides that, did you also account for the weekday (Wednesday is different than Friday for example) and channel (SBS and KBS have much higher viewership than MBC). Also try to plot budget vs viewership ratings. Then come back with your conclusion to prove your point

Thank you for your analysis, which is not factual/biased. Even if your 4 million viewers is correct. A show such as The World of The Married scored 8-10 million (including re-runs) in Korea only. Add the VIU-viewers to the equation and it blows this show out of the water. Nothing wrong per say. You can say that TWOTM is an outlier, but shows such as CLOY, IC, Hospital Playlist on cable and When Camellia Blooms, Fiery Priest, Stove League on public channels all scored 4 million viewers+ in Korea only. The budget of TKEM is also massive, so in terms of return on investment it is doing quite awful in comparison with the aforementioned shows.
Truthfully, it does not matter whether it is really popular or a flop, it is about the expectations that came with the show. It is like the Lakers coming in second. You can say to yourself that it is not bad, but Lebron James and Anthony Davis did not sign up to become second. TKEM surely did not sign up for a 5-7% on Friday and a 5-8% ratings on Saturday. Even a drama such as Angel's Last Mission with no real stars managed to get these numbers.
I want to correct you on the statement that the controversies about the wrong seal, temple, warships etc. caused the downfall of TKEM. It really did not, it was already on the downward trend.
I am also baffled that you think that these controversies are minor... Korea is in a trade war with Japan and they thoroughly hate each other right now. Part of the hate is historical and the other part is instilled by the framing of the media. Anyways, if you know that this is the case, you need to tread this topic carefully as a writer.
From all the battles the emperor could fight... Why did the enemy have to be Japan? Because TKEM thought they could score easy points with the general public. This strategy backfired and every part of criticism is well deserved. Yes, you are right that the media vultured on the dead body of TKEM, but KES/directors should have never given them room for it. Or if they wanted to play the patriotic feelings of Korea, then do it right. This is just a parody.
I stopped watching it but i come here reading comments but i can clearly see how less comments are becoming showing…
It used to be the punching bag of all the antis, but even they have stopped ridiculing this show. I mean the ratings are so low that it is not even funny anymore to make jokes about it. Without the fanbase of LMH, this show would be in the 1-3% region and no one would watch it on Netflix.
I really dont understand why i watched this show, nor how it had high rating? I guess good PR and lot of middle…
If you score more than 28% viewership rating, your audience is likely more diverse than "middle-aged". I skimmed quickly through your list of kdramas and noticed that you are really into the rom-com and fluffy dramas with plenty of young actors and idols. So this drama is definitely not your style.
Somehow I hope Man Shik will know that Yeol Chan almost killed himself because of him but I dunno how he will…
Besides the Kkontern and Lee Tae Ri, the third intern cracks me up. I don't know why, but probably because he is so serious/formal and slow. I could not take it anymore when he summarised the product line up in 300 pages. Or when he said that YC appreciated him for his honesty and he should continue speaking up his mind. He is also the only one that is respectful to the old geezer.
The senior gang I do not like at all... Especially not DG...
i think he only has one kid? i don't remember anything saying that he has another child? i could have missed something…
He mentions it to the director of Ongol when he gets demoted to the warehouse. He says something in the vein of (and I am paraphrasing here): "You made me into a workaholic. I missed the birth of my two kids for this company. I missed my mother's funeral. What am I supposed to do. Become a good dad to my kids, a good son to my late mother". He apparently has another kid. Or he is using figure of speech as Man Se is quite a "robust" kid haha
