The writing (and directing?... and editing?), for this show, is so bizarre to me. The character motivations aren't adding up, and hardly anything ever feels like it truly has any lasting consequences equal to the severity of certain situations. They add drama, and then the plot moves on like it might as well have never happened. It's kept me from being able to feel invested in the characters beyond the first few episodes, where I was rightly pissed off. Now they're trying to tell me Sailom had feelings for Khan even back when the bullying was their only interactions... Sure, people can be attracted to assholes that don't treat them well, but the only way that that would make sense to me, given Sailom's smarts and how nasty of a bully Khang was in ep 1-2, is if it was a hormone fueled attraction that completely overrode his other senses. We see none of that. Don't get me wrong, I'm not someone who needs a couple to go at it like bunnies 24/7, for it to be enjoyable or believable. That, without a good plot, I find equally yawn inducing. But, intimacy (or lack thereof) needs to make sense for the characters portrayed. I've loved Heartstopper, for instance, because that is also a true representation of how it can be as a teenager, where everything is new and there's spark and tension with every handhold. But they can't sell me on puppy love towards a person that hit his best friend so hard in the stomach that he doubled over, and severely damaged his reputation even outside of school, in a way that can't be undone, to only name a few. Feels like they got two scripts jumbled up, and then filled the rest of the runtime with flashing back to scenes, in a lazy attempt at trying to give the impression that they've created more depth to the characters than they actually have. It all feels very underworked, and I'm disappointed since I was looking forward to seeing more original works.
Wow, I saw someone say it's worse than 'Unforgotten Night', a series so bad that I only managed to finish it by turning it into a drinking game. Is this really that bad?
Same here. This feels like a huge mistake when it comes to the stats. I want to watch the uncut officially, but this keeps me from doing that. No need to renew my iQIYI subscription. If I really like the show, then I'll stream the YT-cut to an empty room instead, but I can't sit around and wait for iQIYI to maybe make it available.
Ok apparently i was so out of it that i wasn't aware that they will keep going and push a 3rd season WITH A TOTAL…
Ouch! I was hoping that this would end up being one of those dead-end MDL-pages. I feel bad for this new batch of actors that 'Motive Village' have in their grip.
not to mention 2moons ambassador...i rarely dropped the series but this one too bs
What... they actually tried it again!? When is 'Motive Village' going to let that franchise go. I pity the new group of actors that they have in their grip.
its like 1 episode and it rating is already 7.6????i dont think it deserved it, not when its just 1 episode in>
Yesterday it had 8.5(!), so who knows what the score will end up being. I suppose it depends on how effectively they retain people's interest in hating or loving it. I felt bored, but I haven't rated it yet. I don't really understand the urge to rate stuff until at least a few episodes in. I don't know if I'll manage to keep watching this beyond ep.2, though.
It’s very rare for me to have very contrasting opinions about a series; I usually either really love it, or…
I'm a bit torn, too, but I kind of feel the story depends on where they take it. It's enough to keep me intrigued, anyway. We're halfway through, so there is still enough time for them to tie things together and surprise us with something. I like when a story is a bit unpredictable, and doesn't show every move along the way, but it could just as easily turn out that it wasn't building towards anything, which would be a bit disappointing, despite the strong acting performances. Might be the kind of story where you don't know until the end if it held up story wise. If it doesn't, then at least we got great acting partners out of it. I already knew that First can act. I don't cry easily, but he got me 1,5 times on another show. I haven't seen Khaotung in anything else, so I can't judge him on his own until I see him play a different role, but they are really good together. I think it's a huge advantage when the actors know each other well from the beginning. It comes across a lot more natural when they are already comfortable with each other and have a mutual trust from the start. I get the impression that some studios, in the BL industry, rush through that part of the preproduction process and don't focus on giving the actors time to build trust. If they think that all they need are just pretty faces, then that can result in some pretty awkward performances.
iQIYI only has the first 3 episodes as cut versions, so that's not an option anyway. One would need to figure out if the channel who aired it has it for streaming somewhere.
Even though I am rating it 9.5-10, I actually hate when they have unnecessary plot twists like that. LIKE WHY?…
I actually thought that made it more interesting. Not being certain of who to trust, that's a good ingredient for a maffia show. And the mother has to be pretty traumatized. Who knows how few people she's seen during all that time. Suppose that she doesn't remember having kids, then that just feels like two strangers hugging her tightly and claiming that she is their mother. Or, it is possible that she remembers more than Korn knows, and therefore needs to pretend not to know them.
will there be a kimchay side story at all?? i'm really hoping for one
I'm wondering if he meant the painting thing they did, not realizing that that was already out. He did sort of move to show the painting on the wall. I'm hoping for an actual side story, too, though.
I really liked this show for the social commentary and how refreshingly well their female characters were written (by BL standards). All the women were side characters, but I felt as though they had their own lives outside of their interactions with the main roles.
