Loving this so far. The scenes where they're blown away by the food are still a bit cringe, but Lee Chae Min's face makes everything okay, lol. I love a 12-14 episode series; it's really a kdrama sweet spot for me. Sometimes the 16 episodes just drag on, but this has had a nice pace. The acting has been better than I think I expected. Sometimes these historical dramas/timejump dramas can be a bit cheesy but this one is reminding me of Mr. Queen, a hands down classic for me. Looking forward to the final episodes next week and of course looking forward to more of Lee Chae Min's face.
A really strong cast and really strong writing. There wasn’t a weak actor in the bunch, which is rare. My main gripe was with the lack of reunion for the sisters. Very odd since it was a source of contention and strife for the main female lead the entire series. I hope there is a second season. Legal dramas have been great this year!
I have really loved this series!! The law/legal focused shows have been really good this year and this one is certainly keeping up the trend. Can’t wait to see how it all ends!
This was really, really good. Brought me out of my kdrama slump. The acting was superb, the writing was great. Perfect example of how much you can actually pack into a shorter series without the characters or story feeling incomplete. I did sort of figure out the end game mid way through episode 5 but it was still satisfying to see how they played it out. Also...loved the cameo from a personal favorite!
How did everyone figure out that guy was the Chairman's son?!? Which episode did that come up? Lol...I'm super lost on that one. All that aside, this was a great show. Very slick, very cool; loved the main song and much of the music choices. A little disappointed that Director Ha didn't actually face any consequences for his actions other than dismissal, but I was glad to see the two conmen get arrested. A fun watch even though it was quite dialogue heavy at some points. Will look for more shows with Lee Je Hoon.
Sidenote: is it normal in SK to tell kids who recently lost a parent to call their new guardian mom or dad? I thought that timing at the brother's funeral was odd and a bit off putting.
This was actually quite an interesting watch. PEB was stellar per usual, SKG was amazing too, his controlled rage was well balanced by Seok's unpredictable rage. I was expecting a completely different show from the description and the trailers, but I was pleasantly surprised throughout. I've seen so many kdramas that revolve around hospitals or medicine but this was quite an interesting take. I think although we don't really get the backstory on either Dr. Choi or Seok, I think it's clear they're both products of their childhoods; both have had to scrape to get by and only have their smarts to do it. They both kill when they're pushed into a corner or to get by. Interestingly enough, the one thing Dr. Choi was trying to give Seok failed because she actually saved him (or at least that is what we're led to believe). I think he wanted her to feel a defeat so that she could find meaning in anything outside the OR but they did all of that (I think 6 people died?!?) and she still saved his life. So not sure if the message came through or fell flat.
Once again, I wait to watch both episodes together so this is basically a stream of consciousness. Watched the entire final boat scene through my fingers, fully expecting Guho to pop out of some corner and take SDJ out or I thought SDJ was going to take his own life...the way they shifted the POV to behind him? I was prepared for the music to stop and to hear a shot. Taehyun: At first, I thought Taehyun was going to do something stupid but Seonu caught me completely by surprise. I really was not prepared for his transition from happy go lucky teen to MURDERER (maybe?)!!! Like WTF! Had to pause the show while I caught my breath. Yeom's reaction from the jail bus makes me think he had something to do with it. P.S. I knew Yeom wasn't dead from the first burger scene; SDJ goes to get the burgers at night, but then is eating them with the VC and the Chairman in the morning/afternoon of the following day and then a burger was in the vault. The moment Yeom goes back to his house thinking he was going to just restart his life as it was before only to find a kindergarten in its place and his wife gone was the most beautiful type of revenge. Along with him seeing SDJ's new nameplate. Stopped him in his tracks!! Based on Seonu's mom's face in the portrait, I have a feeling she knows what her son did and his scared of him. I think she's also scared of someone finding out how closely she came to destroying Daesan with Yeom. I hope that Taehyun isn't dead. He didn't even want the freaking position and was trying to find a way out. I'm still confused about Seonu's complete character turnaround...it's really weird. Same with the mother...very weird. They were both so sunny and fun and friendly in the beginning but now? Devils. Also, difficult to say if SDJ knows about Taehyun's fall, but I'm sure if anything could bring SDJ back...it would be that. Secretary Gong's character switch also freaked me out. That whole family dinner scene made me so uncomfortable; I thought it was a dream scene. The vibes were very weird. PHS killed his role. That's really it. He nailed it; the scene when he finally lets Yeom go and he slouches in the chair and then starts weeping?!?! Chef's kiss. Nurse Bae finished strong; glad to see his case being cleared up and by the prosecutor of all people. Hilarious. SDJ and the Prosecutor had great chemistry and I would have liked to see their relationship change and grow. Hopefully there is a season 2...I need answers and I want to see more character growth from the Prosecutor, Yeom's wife, and even Seonu. Who the heck was SDJ's mom and why did Yeom want them dead so badly? Why did Dandelion turn out to be a dud after being so much of the plot for so long? If Guho didn't get revenge for Yeom...wth is he?
the lady is with the villan because he promised he will protect her and her son from fl mother
Right, but SDJ promised the same thing. It would have to be that Yeom promised her something else in order to make her switch sides like that despite SDJ being the one who completely orchestrated the entire marriage and legitimizing of Jeonsu. It's very strange that she was suddenly in cahoots with Yeom.
I watch two episodes at a time so this is a hodgepodge of both 13 and 14. I wonder what the president (Elder) has been having SDJ do for him? Who has he been making payment to? And what will now happen to his right hand man who that Yeom was trying to bribe? It will be interesting to see if things get more contentious with the new Lady of Daesan. She seems like a real problem and switched up so quickly, I want to know what it is that Yeom promised her. I loved the scene where SDJ showed the chairman just how much power he has over Jeonu…that was very good. The second Cha daughter is a useless character who seemingly adds nothing to the story except that she just flits around and does nothing but expects everything. CDH is deplorable and indignant. She just can’t imagine that her son won’t inherit that she’s willing to do anything and everything. She had her former lover and current husband kill her then husband because she wrongly thought he had a child out of wedlock. I need to know what the relationship is between her and Secretary Gong because it’s weird and enabling. They feed off each other in a very strange way. Chairman Cha has gone from a lovable, affable character to a dark, disturbed maniac. It all can’t be blamed on Alzheimer’s. Not sure about the writing with his character; the switch up is too jarring and quick. Overnight he went from only trusting SDJ and being leery of Yeom to trusting yeom explicitly and arranging SDJ and HID’s murders. Eunnam is no longer the female lead in my eyes. I don’t even know if she was intended to be. The story is really all about SDJ…she’s a peripheral character at best and shows up at the most random times and doesn’t do much. Love love love the bromance between Nurse Bae and SDJ; Nurse Bae having different hair every scene is hilarious. Especially since his face is so memorable. Only complaint is how obvious they make when someone is about to die. It was so clear that HID was going to die; the one on one soju moment, the airing of differences. There was no question who was going to go. I think Yeom’s wife knows more than she lets on; she’s been dropping little gems the entire series. I imagine Yeom might have one more trick…unless this has been part of the Elder’s plan to get rid of him for good. Can’t wait to see how this all ends…it’s been a crazy ride.
Only a few people rate the episodes, compared to the thousands that rate the overall story. And apparently with…
The number of people who rate would not have an effect if they were also rating them at 9s. That's a pretty big difference; it's almost 3 points between the average episode rating and the overall rating.
I think a lot of us saw this coming from last week. There’s no way the cliff hanger could have been true and thank goodness! YJS is an actual demon. He’s just playing with President Huh like a pawn on a chessboard. I’ve thought for a few episodes now that YJS’s assistant will turn on him…just not sure when or to help whom. I have a feeling they Ji Seonu might not be the angel we think he is. His attitude is completely different and that makes me think he’s being led by YJS in the wrong direction. At the very start I thought they piled too much in the first half but so far, the writers have proven me wrong. It’s been very well paced in the second half. Literally counting the days until next week’s episodes.
Still trying to figure out what made SMS so nutty. For the entire series, I was waiting for some backstory on what turned her into the monster she is. For a while I thought that the school founder might have been her father. Then I thought that she was the girl who pushed her friend off the roof. I feel like that part of it was too glossed over; at least 20 minutes could have been spent on her backstory instead of throwing in at the last minute that her family took in Principal Park. That only explained his connection to her but gave no insight into her character. The ML was good, the FL was also good and the student actors were also pretty good. I kind of wish the gold didn’t exist…would have made the message stick even more.
Was going to skip this one because it looked like a brewing love remake on a potato farm, but it’s actually adorable. Kang Tae Oh is oh so cute and I’m loving the quirky gang of peripheral characters (much like Brewing Love). Glad I started it!
Idek what to make of ep 10…im hoping that this “cliffhanger” of sorts re SDJ’s paternity gets cleared up quickly because the alternative it kind of yuck. I still think it has something to do with the elder brother of Mr Yeom. Why does he keep showing up like that except for his son? He’s never at any functions related to the prosecutor but seems to appear randomly when SDJ is around. Personally, I’m just loving seeing two baddies from Study Group in this show. Can’t believe Yeom’s right hand guy is the same guy with bleached hair and eyebrows from SG. He looks so good here!
