Goshhh my blood boiled seeing Ggi Ppeum, wtf with her f'in mind to extort the truth from him at all cost??? Esp…
I think she's in on whatever he has planned. At the end of that cross examination with GP and KDW, she doesn't look surprised like the rest of the team and Oh. I feel like we'll see a flashback or something that explains it all.
Felt 2 episodes too long but only because it feels like the writer ran out of story. Retrospective montage, time skip and dance break just to flesh out the final episode. It's a shame because it started out so cute and funny. Forcing all of the main kdrama tropes in one episode also felt forced and unnecessary. The farm town setup just to intro another potential love interest was also so strange. I don't expect Oscar level writing on these but these last eps left a lot to be desired with pretty glaring plot holes. Either way, M/F Ls and M/F 2 Ls were adorable to watch although, there still not being closure for 2Ls was...off putting.
A feel good drama with some really solid performances. I was actually pleasantly surprised with LJH and the range he showed in this. I thought his best friend, Kim Min Seok was another surprise. If that's him singing, he has a beautiful voice and did a great job in his role. Just good solid characters with really solid acting. A good watch.
Wow…binged this in two days and I am not disappointed. The acting? Superb! The storyline and the twists? Gripping! And with all of that there was still heart and feeling all throughout. Another fantastic k-thriller from Netflix. There are a few women absolutely closing out the year strong; I think award season is going to be very competitive! Kim Go Eum continues to be a revelation! Just a phenomenal talent. And kudos to Jeon Do Yeon, she was fantastic in this; she is a joy to see on screen. I have to say, the men didn’t disappoint either. This was the perfect pace, perfect number of eps, and it didn’t feel rushed. My only gripe is that Sometimes it was a little hard to track the flashbacks but compared to the good that’s such a small component. Loved it!!
This is going to be LONG! Kim You Jung HAS to get an award for this performance. HAS TO! The last two episodes could have been a movie unto themselves. Cinema! DoHyuk and JunSeo are two sides of the same coin. They both wanted to possess Ah Jin and had no limits to which they would go to do so. Even if it meant ruining her. The one innocent in this entire series was Jae Oh and it pains me that his story ended the way it did. Never reconciling with his brother, who he initially gave his life for, never getting the love/understanding he needed from his family, I hate that for him. I guess that explains a little why he was so devoted to Ah Jin (that and him being in love with her, but that's another story). Jun Seo's letter to his mother was chef's kiss and the cruelty of removing all of his childhood photos just proves to me that he was more similar to Ah Jin than he may have wanted to admit. I knew there was a reason he moved back in with the mom and I figured it was revenge, I just didn't think it would be this type of revenge. I'm glad to see that my initial assumption was correct, that DH sought out and hired Sung Hee to work in the house, knowing her past with AJ. I would have liked to get more details on how the housekeepers were involved in the gaslighting because they had to have been the ones drugging AJ regularly. They sort of glossed over this part but when AJ finally breaks into the "secret" room and finds that DH took the exact same wedding photos with his ex wife...that was such a good thriller moment. The ending makes sense once you realize that SunJeo hasn't done any of the things he's done to help AJ, he's only done them to make her "come to him". His final act is to create her final fall from grace so she has no choice but to finally give herself to him and he's been waiting for decades. When he makes his final declaration of love while staring into her eyes and gripping her hand, and SHE DOESN'T SAY IT BACK?!?! Like hello?!? I think it really finally clicked for him that she was never ever really his. And then when she called him her final shackle? I thought she was going to kill him. I love that she survived the crash because wtf? He was crazy. Like she's crazy, no doubt, but he's CRAZY! Okay. I think that's everything I needed to get out. I need everyone in this show to get an award. I mean EVERYONE! The mom, JS, DH, JO, AJ, the entertainment CEO, Heo In Gang, Le Na, Sung Hee, even little Ah Jin. Everyone did their best work in this. Fantastic.
IDK why so many people expect a closure on this. It has been years and people do move on. IRL, not everything…
I'm so glad they didn't try to make it "okay" in the end with her. I was dreading every new scene at the end expecting her to show up which wouldn't have been realistic. But...I would have written it like this: Tae Joong's retrial gets televised and at the announcement of not guilty the camera pans to her watching it from her living room maybe with her kid playing in the background. That would have been a realistic way to achieve "closure".
So...I have thoughts. First, the action scenes, specifically the chase scenes were impeccably shot and produced. Maybe the best I've seen in a kdrama so far. I was holding my breath during the one in the tunnel. I think I have the same qualm with this that I have with many other kdramas that have "superbaddies". It seems like he was just born bad, he blinded the nanny, killed his parents so they wouldn't donate their fortune and set up at least 100 innocent people and killed/arranged the murders of many more. But it would have been nice (word choice?) to see what exactly made him that way. Overall, this was a very high octane series, with a lot of twists, but also more loose ends than I like. For example, who set the fire? What happened to the blind woman/his mother? Why did they kill all of those people at the dinner table and who got framed for that? Are we supposed to assume that the female assassin died at the garden house? Are they expecting to have a sequel? If so, who would have been the person to take over? So many questions.
Eps 9-10 are quite the eye openers. Definitely gives me vibes of the film Gaslight and I'm here for it. Do we think Do Hyuk hired Sang Hee? Because what was she about to tell Ah Jin before she hurt herself? Maybe something about the ex wife. Another question, did Do Hyuk know that Jae Oh was relatively unharmed by his assassination attempt? Or was he surprised to hear his voice on that recording? I'm trying to figure out who Do Hyuk is related to or knows because his attachment to Ah Jin seems purposeful beyond just obsession or attraction. It seems like he got her in his clutches to get some kind of revenge, for himself or for someone else. Why is Jun Seo giving his money grubbing mother another chance? She needs her comeuppance beyond being left out of the inheritance. I'm intrigued to see how this finishes up; there are a lot of loose ends for only 2 remaining episodes. See y'all Thursday!
Cute so far. Can’t believe I’ve never seen FL in any other drama before, but she’s adorable in this!! Don’t know why but I think one of the discoveries will be that their mothers know each other. There has to be another reason they’re at the same hospital, right?
Not sure what happened in the last few episodes but it definitely went downhill. A bit too much chaos, not enough substance/structure. Shame really since it started out pretty strong. Some dramas feel like the first and second halves are written by two different teams or like they’re written as the series films. This is one of those.
The final twist was really like a knife to the gut, but I guess if ML and FL are sort of mirror images of each other, only doing this to "protect" their families, it makes sense. FL also finds out that her best friend was really a snake in the grass as well. I don't mind open endings but this one made me sad...ML was really d*cked around by everyone except FL; I wouldn't want his story to end there. All in all a strong series; it would be interesting if they do a second series. That said, I need to see Kim Young Kwang in something upbeat and happy next; please and thank you!
Pleasantly surprised by this one. I feel like the contract/pretend marriage trope has been done so many times, even this year alone that it can get stale but this is actually pretty good. Glad to see some familiar faces in supporting roles. The handsome local from QoT, the brother from Tastefully Yours and the rival chef from Bon appetit YM. This last episode was a bit lagging for me but mainly because of the ex. The actor is good but the character is annoying, lacks self awareness, and is predictable. FL is a bit of a wet mop and needs to fight back a bit…loving ML so far and the second couple is awesome! They remind me of the second couple from business proposal. Hopefully we get the magic back next week!
No disrespect to Jung Eun Chae, truly, but no. I would rather they wait until Park Ji Hyun is available. The will they/won't they chemistry built between her and Ahn Bo Hyun really can't be replicated. They remind me of the US television show Bones.
I really like this so far. My only issue is the interweaving of the serious and the funny. Sometimes it's not as seamless as it could be. But overall this is cute and I want to learn more about Dong Min. Hye Ji is still a mystery to me as well. Hopefully her character gets fleshed out more.
Is it just me who's disappointed by how quickly she's been discovered? I.really thought that she would make a…
I think the reason is that it's part of her character arc. She's building community and learning to trust; something she has never had before. This is likely where she'll start over like she asked the chairman.
Loved this week's episodes. Moved the story along well and added so many new twists. So interesting to see the similarities between James and the blackmailer/money grubber. They both have similar reasons for doing what they're doing. I wonder how we'll see that play out in the rest of the series.
In case anyone was interested, I’m personally crowning Lee Chae Min as the next big thing. He really did a great job on this series; so much so that I actually can’t imagine anyone else in the role. Action, romance, comedic timing, dramatic scenes, he really covered it all and did it well. I hope to see him again soon!
I'm intrigued to see how this finishes up; there are a lot of loose ends for only 2 remaining episodes. See y'all Thursday!
