trust an elder senior lady of GenX (born 1979) here!i have been watching Hongkong/Taiwan/China wuxia ancient fantasy…
Very true… but I am also amazed how many people forget, these dramas are fiction and some are extremely creative … I am old…also watched Kdrmas on VHS and horrible subtitles…in. The 80’s and 90’s. From China i watched every film available…not many in my early days, and in my area…I lived in the Caribbean…

Disney has one of the most aggressive VPN’s detection technology I was caught. And it was a hassle. I cancelled, this was the last straw…never got to see one Korean Drama. Because I only bought Disney + ( This was a year ago.)

Does anyone know why I can't find this on Disney+?
Most Korean Dramas are not in actual Disney+. You must have the Hulu package. I actually joined Disney to watch this one and a couple others. And then I found out I needed to add on the Huly package. Because I was already a member…it was more expensive if I had bought the packaging all at once. I cancelled my subscription…because I got so mad. I had actually asked around and peoples suggestions misled me. I just checked, they are still in the same company Disney +, but only if you became a member of both before the fusion in 2026. And at the same time it says that to have Hulu, you must buy the Duo or the Triple Pay option…not just Disney+🤬

Everyone has their own opinion but that doesn't mean this drama isn't underrated, and I'm not talking about actual…
It was part of my job, since Law School, and while teaching and work…I was harsh then…I am nice and sweet with dramas. It is not high art, most of them. And often I wonder if reviewers watched the same drama I did😉I dont care much about others reviews…but I am always curious to read them. I don’t ussually watch sad endings…my life is hard enough, no reason to cry for fiction. When I was happy and young I loved sad endings and real tragic and shocking things….done with that. Even though everyone I know, loved Doona…I refuse to watch it. Fluff for me now…is perfect.

While I agree with the core of what you are saying about this drama. I think you are forgetting that people like you and me are not the real market of K and Cdrama. I have been watching them for decades, and they have gotten a little better, and there are some actual gems out there. But the general purpose is intertainment and making good money with small investments. I am a serious reader and indie films fan…dramas are therapy and I watch them to stop my mind from thinking. I am in shock about how little people understand, and how the miss mayor clues. And I don’t watch them, the way I watch serious filmography. I am harsh rater of books and good films…I am soft with Kand C dramas…as long as the acting is reasonable, the script is good and I can watch it with out to much stress…I give them a good rating. This is not Cannes or even a film festival…they are Asian Soap Operas. And I love them. Try the Japanese ones…those are better done and a lot less soap opera like. I watch at least one of those a month.

As someone who has lived in Africa their whole lives. Most of Africa is really poor. So it makes sense that anyone…
Just for the record…all these dramas stereotype everything. Do you actually think, Korea is like it is depicted in Dramas? Very few are actually reality based. I read Korean literature if I want Korean reality…and it is rough and difficult. This is fictional entertainment. It is not oriented to educate very much…even when they try.

Jessica…review is excellent!!! You convinced me to see , if I had had, any doubts. Your priorities are perfect. BTW…My definition of a good actor is exactly the same as yours. When I forget they are acting

I mean all actors gain and lose weight for rolls. As for being white, it's literally the beauty standard in Chines…
It is mostly make up in his case…his hands are so much darker in many scenes…apparently they put make up there also. I am not saying he is dark skin…its just that white face make up in most dramas bother me a bit. None of my Korean and Chinese Friends and I have many look like that. They do admit…its a standard of beauty to be almost as white as a Japanese Geisha😉

I couldn't believe the mindset of Sheng Yi, the man she got married to who is harming her and she didn't stand…
Sadly, this was incredibly realistic. In real life, it is quite common. I worked in a battered women sheltter.💔
