I'm not the best person to explain but I'll give it a try...
In China, there's a Taoist concept called cultivation where humans can cultivate their mind and soul to prolong their lifespan and gain powers. We call such people who practice cultivation as cultivators. So basically, they cultivate their Qi which is basically a person's life force. Sometimes, cultivators can cultivate their Qi so much that they can ascend to heaven and become gods.

(I heard they were planning on making WWX and Wen Qing a couple when they were filming the Untamed and Fans immediately took action XD... So no way are they gonna have a straight romance here.... I feel like anyone who'd come to the Immortality page before it's release would have watched the Untamed lmao... but sorry if I'm wrong.)

And tbh, some people hype the Untamed way too much. I know it deserves all the hype and publicity. It deserves more imo... I love this show to death.... but say, someone who likes Marvel is hyped about this show and starts watching it XD... Now the expectations they would have from the show is gonna be different from what a 'Goblin' lover or a 'CLOY' fan... So having nothing to look forward to and enjoying the present is the safest option (of course this is my personal point of view... opinions differ)

Umm... I would like to point out that some, if not many, people who are watching the untamed are probably k-drama lovers who aren't used to more than 16 episodes per show. And I would also like to point out that this might even be their first time watching a c-drama. It was mine... So far, I have watched the Untamed completely about 4 times, and the very first time I watched it, I skipped through half of it because it was too different for me to comprehend (I regret it sooo much now)... And my very first impression of it was that it was 'slow-paced'.... of course impressions change over time, but I noticed that in the comment section, some people found it too slow so I'm just trying to encourage them? XD... I'm just doing what I can. And of course u can state your opinion :) Nothing against stating opinions... (Otherwise no one would be on MDL lmao) I am just giving the newcomers a little warning is all...

And The Untamed is a BEAUTIFUL drama. No doubt about that. But when a total new comer or someone who came solely because of the reviews and ratings, starts watching the Untamed with expectations (without really knowing what its about), of course they'd be confused (and maybe even disappointed... u never know what a persons cup of tea is...). Having no expectation makes a person enjoy the present without having to look forward to what the show has to offer in the future while having a certain picture already in mind. It's just a tactic I would use to enjoy every bit and inch of a show or a book and I'm just sharing a tip that might help some not give up this drama half way through :)

We can just hope and keep our fingers crossed.... but I have a good feeling about their onscreen chemistry... hopefully they make it work!

To everyone giving this drama a try, make sure you try and understand the intensity of it. To many, 50 episodes might be a lot, and the drama might even seem super slow-paced to some, but please remember, there is a reason it is one of the highest-rated dramas out there. It is a beautifully executed piece of fine art that one can indulge in only after comprehending the depth of emotions and the story portrayed in it.

The novel is a BL and plot-oriented more than 'romance-oriented' but because of the censorship, the BL theme has been taken out, making it a 'censored romance' but the plot remains the same (at least most of it does). If you are planning to watch it, watch it with the mindset that just because 99 people out of a hundred loved it, it doesn't mean that you might love it as well. Have no expectations. And try not dropping it just after 5 or 10 episodes. Be patient. If you are lucky enough, you will fall in love like most of us. If not, then that's fine too. It might not be your cup of tea.

Tbh... despite the many themes in the novel, the plot mostly revolves around romance.. so maybe that's the reason it's there? I just hope there are romantic undertones at least *fingers crossed*
