which did you find? This one wasn't too bad : https://www.mtlnovel.com/dage-big-brother/chapter-list/
Yep, that's the one. It only goes to chapt 69 and the guys are barely in it together, let alone their love story. There are lots more characters than in the show, and these other characters appear much more than Zhi Yuan. But I don't know what their role is. For instance, I can't figure out what the hell the 3 Fats are, and what's up with Grandma. Of course, I only skimmed most of it, but that's because the translation was too awful to give it a serious reading. And from skimming, my assessment was that it wasn't even a BL. Zhi Yuan has one or two internal thoughts about loving his big brother and that's it.
Does anyone know where to find a decent English translation of the novel? I found one translation, but it's so bad that one cannot even tell what's going on. It's basically random English words arranged on a page. Google auto translations do a better job than this translator did. Also, I skimmed through it and the romance does not even begin until chapter 55. I am not sure what all the earlier chapters are about because it's impossible tell with the awful translation; I just know that the two leads names never even appear on the same page together until chapter 55 onward. Can someone who's read a decent translation tell me what the entire novel is about?
I know, I had begun to lose faith in Taiwan's BL's. In fact, when I saw that this was from Taiwan I groaned and…
He means that the sequel to We Best Love was really bad. And I must agree. It lost all the charm, and many plot points made no sense. Why would somebody fly across the earth to America, see their boyfriend holding a baby, then fly back without even saying hello? And how did all those guys become top executives in 5 mere years? They looked like little kids playing dress up in daddy's suits.
I'm of the opinion one should wait until the end of a series to rate it, or MDL should make it possible to rate…
You're right because I've had to change my ratings often once a show ends. For instance, I gave The Eighth Sense a high rating based on the terrific first 4 eps, but when the show ended I had to drop points. I thought that the tall one ghosted the kid inexplicably and the show just asked us to accept not only this, but also that he suddenly ceased to ghost him just as inexplicably. I've changed lots of my ratings after a show ends, so now I just wait.
In the case of this show, I think people are giving it a low rating based on the mere description that they are "brothers." Of course, if one watched it they would see that the younger one was already 11 or 12 when the older one adopted him so not only are they not biological brothers, but they are not even like a traditional adopted family where one is adopted as a baby or toddler. He had already reached his formative years by time he was adopted.
Not to sound like I'm nickpicking but where are they going with his mommy issues line? I hope they are not going…
Who had mommy issues in Advanced Bravely? The bottom had a nice relationship with his mother and we did not see the top's mother at all. He had raised his annoying sister cuz his parents died when they were young.
when they were child they looked maxmim 4-5 years apart in age, but howe come WQ grew into man and WZY is still…
WQ was about 18, and a teenager has already reached their full height, so there would not be any more growth for WQ. But WZY was only about 12 and still had some growing to do. Boys grow a lot from 12 to 18.
A good BL series from Taiwan after so long like so long ! Why was I avoiding this one?! I'm totally into it! 🤌🏻
I know, I had begun to lose faith in Taiwan's BL's. In fact, when I saw that this was from Taiwan I groaned and thought, oh brother, I bet it's another bad one. The only one I liked this year was about the guy hearing ghosts, and that was merely cute, not great. The History franchise and We Best Love, however, were great. Based on 3 eps this one looks like it will be great as well.
Right? The longer hair, he's thinner...but that voice? Totally unique & scrumptious LOL
Not just longer hair, he also dyed it black. I was also thrown because in We Best Love he comes across as very tall because his boyfriend is shorter than him. But the guy he was standing next to in this show must be tall, because it made him look short by comparison.
I read a week's worth of comments and only 2 out of hundreds were negative. So how is the rating only 7.9 when nearly every comment was positive? At any rate, I am baffled that unique shows like this get a 7.9 while so many bland, fluffy and forgettable shows get ratings over 8.
This makes for lovely viewing doesn't it? I find it quite raw and gritty, which captivates my imagination and…
lol, why would the Taiwanese think the Brits have more thieves than the US? They clearly don't know about American cities such as Detroit. Or Newark, which is in my own native state of NJ.
And you are right about Unknown, this is excellent. I had lost faith in Taiwanese BL's until this came along. We had a cute one with the boy who heard ghosts, but that was merely cute, not great. As you noted, there hasn't been a great Taiwanese BL since the HIStory franchise.
that's what I've been wondering for years... maybe it's because it's hard to access reliable information aout…
Yes, that's him, Ba Vinh! He's in everything, lol. You're right that anyone who watches V-BL's would know who he is. How could they not? He's in 75% of them.
As for "Hello Rival, I Love You" I got the title wrong. It's "Hey Rival, I Love You" and it's on Youtube. It's only a half hour, but it's nice.

Yep, Vietnam is clearly trying to be a contender with East Asia for BL's. My favorite V-BL of all time is "Follow My Sunshine." That had a big budget for a V-BL. I also love "Hello Rival, I Love You" and "The Promise."
And I gotta laugh at how there is one actor who shows up in nearly every V-BL. I don't know his name but he was in Nation's Brother and too many others to list, lol. If you watch a lot of V-BL's then you must know who I mean because he's about 75% of them.
Every K-drama should be limited to 6 episodes like this because it was lean, tightly plotted and fabulously paced. Not a moment was wasted. Alas, most K-dramas are bloated 16 episode shows packed with filler and irrelevant scenes. Narco-Saints, however, was so quickly paced that I binged on all 6 episodes in 2 nights. Come to think of it, all the best K-dramas are shorter (eg, Strangers from Hell). The fact that Narco-Saints was gleaned from a true story makes it all the more compelling.
At the beginning he didn't know anything about himself. But then as an reward for an achievement in the game he…
If he was there before with the grandmother and glasses guy who knew him, then it's not a computer game because he was raised in this world by his grandmother. Otherwise, what version of himself was in this supposed game from birth until now? And won't he continue to be there just as he'd always been there? In which case, what's the problem?
He was never in a game. The other reality was presented to him as a game so that he could accept it easier. The…
If this is simply an alternate reality and not a game as you say, then why can't he stay there? Why does he have to break up with the guy as if leaving this world were inevitable? And if it is not a game, then why is he getting points and rewards as if it were a game? I am not being sarcastic, I genuinely don't get the logic of this show.
Thai BL's don't count because they use massive marketing machines to artificially boost ratings. That's why virtually EVERY Thai BL has a high rating. Have you noticed that? Thai BL's are marketed so assiduously that they even appear in promos in American journals such as Vogue and Rolling Stone. They put out over 100 BL's a year and export so many that it's one of the country's Gross National Products. It's big business, which means the production company uses big marketing companies. Those marketing companies, in turn, use bots to boost ratings. So I do not count any Thai BL's rating.
If Tae Myung Ha has slipped inside of a computer game and needed to ask glasses-guy what his name and age were, then how come he knew his grandmother? He even told her that he missed her and that he was happy back when he used to spend time with her. It's as if he travelled back in time, more than if he travelled inside of a computer game. What's up with this?
Why can't a robot love? You're just a robot built by your DNA, and you can love. Your thoughts and emotions are…
I don't think even the professor believes the robot can truly love. At any rate, the professor is upset over the same questions that the viewer is struggling with. Namely, how much of his robot's feelings are real? And what will remain if the robot is reprogrammed? He asked his uncle all those questions when they were at that restaurant. So we see the professor is in angst over this. And this looks like the show is presenting us a one sided love -- which I suppose is enough drama for a show to work.
I will say that the guys have chemistry. Certainly more than the J-BL about the hot cook and the plain, boring salaryman. They have NO chemistry. The other J-BL out right now is Perfect Propose, which started off strong, but degenerated into a workplace drama about a boss from hell and his doormat employee. Heck, I haven't really loved any BL's that came out this year. I've liked a lot of them, but wouldn't put any on my top 20 list.
Lee Sun Kyun had a real gift for comedy. What a shame Korea's Celebrity Suicide Machine took him out before he could do more comedic roles like this. It's the first and only funny role I'd ever seen him in and, wow, he nailed it. In fact, he made the movie. The other leads were terrific too, but like most movies, of this nature it's the narcissist douchebag who gets all the funny lines.
