I’ve never posted a comment but just had to after reading criticisms about the FL. If you didn’t skip the first episodes you will see the the FL is being true to character. She is not a bad person but shaped by abandonment and abuse. She’s lived in a world with only her maid and abusive relatives; no access to outside world even through education. In her little world, she survived alone without anyone to rely on. Her view of people is simple- she loves those who are kind to her and hates anyone who bullies her. There is no big picture or the greater good in her world. To survive, the most important person is her. When she met ML all she saw was a general who told on her; whose existence and world is outside her reality. She’s never known love and wouldn’t recognize it. She doesn’t know romance and has never been attracted to men. She didn’t see her ex as man but a friend. She definitely didn’t see ML in a romantic sense. Women may have married younger then but it doesn’t mean they had matured. Isn’t this why the marriage age has been raised everywhere? But slowly she is blossoming into a woman; her world is opening ; her reality now larger. She will not suddenly become reliant simply because a dashing hero tells her to; think about the consequences when she used to tell on her great uncle without realizing how it would affect her clan; understand politics; or fall in love. This drama is so well thought of from a female perspective. I really appreciate the effort to show the psychology behind the FL’s behaviour and decisions. I hope the audience can go beyond their swoon over a handsome ML and see the beauty in the slow blossoming of a bud.
