Forget the show and read the novel
After watching a few episodes of eat run love i realised that there was a free englidh language version of the novel that the tv series was based on. I stopped watching the show and read the novel. I came back to the show. The book is a wonderful love story of immature twenty somethings who boh made mistakes that lead to their breakup, and 10 years later, as mature and succesful 30 somethings met again and fall back in love with the new version of themselves. After they meet they talk about their lives apart and finally tell each other their stories, both of them accepting the mistakes they made.
What the show gave us was FL who after they meet was a vindictive, manipultive bitch full of hate for the ML, blaming him for her mothers death and her illness, which he had no control over. If i were the ML i would have ignored her and left her to cope with the equally obnoxious Wilson. They deserved each other.
In the novel the mother doesn't die, and Wilson is a pleasant American Tang met before she meets Gang again, and who diasappers quite quickly when he realises he has become the third wheel.
If you read the novel you will learn about the cut throat world of Wall Street during the finiancal crises and the explotation of young traders forced to work very long hours which lead to some dying from exhausion, stress and malnutrition, as happened to Tang's colleque. All in the name of free trade capitalism. Gang's story is an insight to the globilisation of trade, with the offshoring of manufacture in Asia. Both of which Trump is trying to destroy using the Project 2025 blueprint And the final chapters describe the effect of Covid and global trade which Tang and Gang cope with while happily living together in Tang's appartment.
Watch the show if you like the actors. I would watch the episodes upto their breakup and fast forward to the last 2 or 3 episodes to finally see the FL suddenly falling in love again.
Better still read the book and watch something else, say Lighter and Princess.
