I am not sure if this drama is truly worth watching… To me, the first 2 episodes struck me as a wanna be-masterpiece… they have been showing grand places but the overall show seems truly lacking in class and finesse. Also, they kept showing aerial scenes of Manila to indicate that it was the scenes’ locations. But the interior shots are nowhere close. So, again, for me, the series is failing in its authenticity. To top it, the character of the MIL is annoying to me. I may continue to watch another episode or two to see how the story progresses. But I won’t be surprised if this will be another drama that I end up dropping even though both ML and FL appear good, looks and acting wise.
I quite like the concept of the show and the cast. But for some reason, I could not bring myself to progress past the 1st episode of season 1 where they were in Mexico. This new 2nd season in Iceland though captivated me! I enjoyed the first episode! I also liked the new cast member. I had seen her in Sweet Home and Youth of May. She seems to be a good fit as the new intern for S2. I’m hoping that the remaining episodes will keep getting better.
Whilst this K-drama is far from perfect, it was satisfying, at least for me, to see the ML and FL ending up in a married life with a baby to boot (two babies in fact - their own plus the FL’s half sister)!
I find the story flawed in some ways and no matter how much the writer had tried to present the love s tory between the QD and the GRI so that the viewers could understand them at least, I still could not bring myself to take pity on those two and their fates in the finale. I just couldn’t see anything endearing with them and with their love story. I actually found many of their scenes together cringe-worthy. But I thought it nice how the writer had written their end - the GRI did not die by the hands of the CP-then king-then SRI. And the QD passed away due to childbirth and not killed by members of the royal family. It was also good to see that the innocent offspring of the QD and the GRI was being cared for by the now-married ML and FL at the end of the story.
To see the ML and FL married in the end with a child of their own was quite refreshing as well since I have not seen this kind of ending in many of the K-dramas that I had watched.

But, when the king finally woke up and came to see his eldest son, the CP, and they reunite in E16, was, by far, the most endearing episode for me.
