I never saw her in whatever people are complaining about. The only times I dislike her acting, it is more the direction I have a problem with (the overly cutesy or forced comedy parts). I actually have admired how quickly her face can go from scheming and calculating to radiantly smiling and acting like a girl in love. The times I like her most were when she was casually eating and drinking with an arrogant attitude like the badass the character originally was.
Can someone spoil me if in the book the main couple have a happy ending? Are the authors being true to the novel?
Kinda true in some aspects, very not true in a lot. Honestly, this book is one of the best I've read and it is translated on novelupdates. The author also wrote a same universe novel called Sansheng, Wangchuan Wu Shang which is pretty short and is absolutely amazing. She is a master of writing believable sweet-funny-angsty dramas where the couple needs to earn their happy ending.

Agree, really want the third prince to have been secretly team evil all along and also to have not drunk the waters of amnesia. He's alluded to 'knowing Xingyun for a long time' which makes me think that is true. I'm also guessing that the different 'lives' aren't different personalities but aspects of their total personality. Him being a useless prince while secretly plotting could work.

By Ep 6, however, it was starting to hit the same notes (just in a somewhat different order) and Ep 8 got me. The supporting cast drama is bringing the feels - which makes sense given that we already know their aren't any stakes at this point for the two leads since they are immortals. The bromance torn apart by politics killed me.
Maybe it's because I have zero Chinese skills, but I am not seeing the same acting that people complain about. They did tone down the FL's personality as well as build up the ML's status, only to be expected in an adaptation unfortunately. I can roll with it as long as it delivers the angst-broken-by-bits-of comic-relief.
I just really, really, REALLY, hope they deliver on the last life because that one absolutely destroyed me. Then I hope some god of drama hears my prayers and delivers a faithful adaptation of 'Sansheng, Wangchuan Wu Shang'
