ep 23 7:40 do we have another translation of their convo? what does xw mean by "but I am now free" ?btw that "Really?"…
I think I know the line you are asking about. The statement ZZ says is that, as teacher and student, they're bound by ethical principles (at that time it was seen as wrong to form a relationship) and XW replies, "However, I act without restraints."
2 episodes Fri, Sat and Sunday. I'm guessing it's because people were complaining how their previous schedule meant two less episodes this week 😂, so they've given them back.
Lots of complaining atm given its actually two less episodes than if they stuck to the previous schedule....hoping lots of complaints will make them give us something better next week
10 episodes in, XW is currently too cold and dark for me. I love all the scenes with WXY as ZZ though. I hope I crawl out of the second lead syndrome later.
Also, for those who've read the novel, I'm curious, did he ever call her Ning'Er in their previous life too?
Yes. I recall in the novel she noted how he addressed her differently. Cause calling her Jiang er would make her secondary in her home, although she was daughter to the lady of the home and not really the concubine Wan Niang.
1. As already shown, when YL's family met their bloody downfall, she broke the last straw by telling him that…
The other difference is in ep5 where they say XW has a sickness, but in the novel, he exposes his true identity. Hence, she fears that he wants to kill her.
For those who have read the novel, I have some questions regarding the female lead since the show has left me…
1. As already shown, when YL's family met their bloody downfall, she broke the last straw by telling him that she wanted to be empress. She took her sister's hanky and faked it with the crown prince to become his wife. She used pretty much everyone around her as stepping stones to gain power. 2. She married SJ, but admired ZZ. But I think the novel largely alluded to how she loved herself more than others. Arguably though, I guess she did love ZZ given she died to save his life. 3. So far, the largest difference is that modern writer scene. I guess it is just to get past the re-incarnation ban. 4. From my foggy memory, JXN later finds out that ZZ also remembers their previous life. 5. My personal understanding is that she felt she deserved the retaliation of YL. XW I guess is just so dark and unpredictable/ruthless that she continues to fear him. Like he is know to be the calm scholar, but really is a wolf in sheep's clothes.
How do people feel about the love line between the two leads?
I personally feel that something is amiss. I could be the only one, but I can't seem to "buy-in" to the seemingly overdramatised emotions they should be sharing for one another. I feel there is a lack of foundation to their attraction for each other for their "love" to be so powerful that it requires tears and the music, THE MUSIC. I feel like the director or film editor has done something that sometimes creates a little awkwardness. It is a pity as I really like the actor and actress and have watched their previous works before.
