Idt he's supposed to be a good character, he's traumatized because of what happened to him and wants to take revenge. His obsession for jaeyi stems from the fact she's the only one who has shown him kindness in forever. But I wished the show didn't romanticize this :-( The romance wasn't really needed, and I don't see why jaeyi would fall for him. If jaeyi was simply empathetic for him that would have been much better.
