I really enjoyed this drama until the childhood flashbacks. I hope it's something else and not a childhood connection…
There won't be any childhood flashbacks between the main actors. They have no relation in the past, except Hwiyoung and Subin who know each other from kindergarden, but photos were shown of the children cast as the actors counterpart and there were only 3 males as I recall. If they show past memories it's gonna be as an addition for better understanding of the character.

Rather then seeing this as a a more cliche school drama with the rich kid, the poor kid, mean parents etc. we need to see them as representation of the society they live in. A journalist wrote about Subin and Hwiyoung's moms - they represent the bitter reality of the educational fever and class in SK, while also creating lot of sympathy. Cause the educational system and pressure in SK is extreme, we're seeing it here.
When Subin's mom yells at her while talking about men vs women in society, also so very true.
These are those little things that make the drama slice of life, what the PD wanted us to pay attention to and understand. It's not plot driven story, but character driven, we're going to see the students and the adults develop through it.

Title Moment at Eighteen Spoiler
Ma Hwiyoung's char is for sure represented as the villain in the drama, at least for now. I don't think he is a bad guy for real, he's just been living under a big facade for long time and is in fact in a lot of pain. I think the writer's intention is to 1st dislike him but we may end up sympathizing with him. I've read his char profile, his father was violent with him cause he was not perfect child/student as his hyung, his mother suffers from depression and drowns her issues in alcohol, said to be even manipulative with him. This is all yet to be shown in the drama. Was said he has wounds that even bled, probably referring to the scratching he does to his arm. He portrays himself as very strong and unbothered, but in fact he is more scared and insecure than Junwoo.

Geon Hee from Sky Castle are really a support in this drama? I think there's a mistake
It's not mistake, just he will have a more guest role, not support. It's confirmed by JTBC on their official site, they put up character relation chart, He is playing Junwoo's old friend, from his previous high school, very likely connection with the reason why Junwoo changed schools.

Why is there nothing mentioned about the genre .... Romance ..... why ???
The genre is like slice of life. Kim Hyanggi herself said that the characters and their stories are like real life ppl and realistic situations and it's not romance centered, if there is, it would be minor. Through the 3 main characters and their parents who are all from different backgrounds, will be shown the pressures of society and school life and how young ppl deal with it and try to overcome it.
