I didn't intend to post anything publicly about this because I was unsure as to whether I could fully articulate…
As much as many societies have changed, many victims still don't report rap3 or SA because they are still blamed. In many places, marital rap3 isn't a crime. My objective is that people are thoroughly educated about what is rap3 and that victims are protected. I want perpetrators to receive appropriate sentencing that reflects the severity of the crime. My original point was that statements, like the one Build made is a reflection of societal attitudes and that we need to focus on systemic reform so that people realise how harmful these statements are.
I never suggested that I wanted Build to lose his platform. Even if I had the ability to take away his platform, I wouldn't. I just said that I hope he educates himself.
This is my response to the situation with Build.1). The facts. He said some terrible things a few years ago, things…

When I saw what he had written, I was disgusted. I think why it is so upsetting because even if Build has changed as a person, many people hold these beliefs regarding victims of SA. It just made me think about how people have been socialised to think like this. Even within the legal system there's and idea of the 'perfect victim' and if the victim wasn't wearing the 'right clothes' then they aren't as much of a victim. I think this situation reminded me of how important it is for governments to ensure that people are educated and realise how harmful victim blaming is. We also desperately need legislative reform so victims can actually receive justice.
As a black person, who stopped listening to kpop because I was sick of the racism. I'm quite jaded and I tend to avoid getting too attached to any celebrity. I think many fans tend to project their beliefs and values onto those they stan. Unless, a celebrity explicitly condemns racism, attempts to educate their fans on how harmful it is, I as a black person refuse to fully invest time, money, energy etc. because they are more concerned with making money than protecting marginalised people. When it comes to BL actors, I expect less than the bare minimum because a lot of them are ignorant regarding LGBTQ issues. Like thank you for saying 'love is love' but can we talk about how trans rights are being threatened. There are a few actors I can confidently say are concerned with LGBTQ rights and are try to educate themselves. I'm not saying all other BL actors are homophobic just that they do less than the bare minimum, which is disappointing because they profit from portraying gay characters.
I wish that Build said exactly what he was sorry for, why he was wrong and how statements like these are harmful to victims. Even if Build is genuinely sorry, no one is under any obligation to forgive him. I hope he learns from this.
People here are annoying af. They want every single show with 1000%perfect Human beings in a world full of trashy…
That's a good question !I just really love Plustor and I like when gay actors get to play gay characters that are complex and not just comic relief.
My issue with GMMTV in general is that the use the same few actors for all of their shows. I think Drake could potentially do a good job, based on what I've seen. I think even when he's in a support role he gives it 100% and is very underrated. Arm could do well too. And my wild card would be Tul because I'd love to see what his chemistry would be like with Foei as they've worked together before.

I know that this show is supposed to be a soap opera and that I may be taking it too seriously, but it is because I have loved Jojo's previous shows. So that's why I was expecting to the writing to be stronger. I like that the show is addressing that life isn't black and white and that there isn't always a good guy. It's a reflection of the inherent flaws of human beings. I just think that this has been explored better in Jojo's previous shows. Just to clarify, the direction isn't bad, but just generic unlike 3 Will Be Free, Friend Zone and Friend Zone 2. In the aforementioned shows the direction was unique and dynamic with interesting shots. The Player seems like it could have been directed by anyone, which isn't bad per say it's just a shame because I enjoy how different Jojo's shows are compared to a lot of the Thai ones I've seen. I also find the intimate scenes really awkward to watch and some of the actors don't seem to have a lot of chemistry but that could be me nit-picking.
About the acting, I don't think anyone's acting in this show is bad. However, I will say I think Joss isn't as good in this show as he was in 3 Will Be Free but I think his performance isn't bad. I like Jane's performance and I don't really think she could do much better as Eve is a simple character compared to others. I think that people are being way too harsh when discussing Mek's performance I think there are times when he really shines and his acting is fine overall. If I was in charge of casting , I would have chosen Plustor to play Matt because he would have elevated the character or Arm solely based on his role in Friendzone 2.

I'm going to be completely honest and say that this series is a bit lacking, and that hurts because I am a big fan of Jojo; he wrote on of my favourite Thai dramas ever so my expectations were high. I feel like this show could be so much stronger if they worked on the script more. Concerning the direction, I'm not going to be too harsh because I think a lot of the direction and cinematography of most GMMTV shows are generic, not bad just by the numbers, which isn't surprising because GMM ( the company which GMMTV is a subsidy of) is huge , so maybe their isn't the room for creative freedom as the company is trying to make profits. I also blame the lack of autonomy for the poor casting too. I'm going to continue to watch the show though because there are some amazing performances ( Namtam, Kapook) and because I want to support Jojo.
About Bad Buddy, I wasn't too intrigued when I first started airing, so much so that I only started watching it by the time ep 6 came out. Is it generic ? Yes. Am I sick of engineers in BL's? Yes.
But it's a well written, well directed and well acted show. The characters address cliches that have plagued many people hate. For example, Paa mocking when the main leads say; "I'm not gay I only like the other main lead." I also like the fact that Wai was mature enough to realise that he shouldn't hit on Paa. I do have issues with Wai's character like he came across as manipulative when asked Pran to participate in the play. I would also like them to address the fact that he's a scholarship student and has to work to get through school , whereas Pat and Pran both have wealthy families and don't struggle with tuition. I think Aof's experience as a director is also contributing to the success of the show too.
TL;DR: I like both Bad Buddy and The Player shows, but I think the writing and directing of Bad Buddy is stronger.
I will also add my 3 cents :) Some people feel that something is off and I agree with you. But it's not about…
I agree! I feel bad admitting it but I'm disappointed with the show far and it's so frustrating because I was looking forward to it. I commend the show ( and the novel), for addressing governmental corruption, nepotism , capitalism ,ableism etc , but the writing is not as good as it could be. They rely too heavily on expositional dialogue. For example, when their classmate said; " I'm only your trans ex-girlfriend but you've forgotten about me and are seeing a different different girl." Like you couldn't think of a different way to let the audience know that Gram and their classmate used to date.
Anyone else think Tod is the mastermind behind Black’s assault?
I became suspicious when I saw Todd’s apartment and when he mentioned that he inherited his dad’s businesses. I find it weird that Black would be friends with someone that wealthy.
I feel like he could be related to Tawi somehow and Black found out
