It's very interesting to watch this dissonance between Chinese and intl audiences. I actually looked for "Chen Yiming" on bilibili bc I was curious and I like the actor a lot, and most of the videos related to him there was Wang Ziru too.

Modern dramas regularly don't take a lot of time in post production because there's no special effects. I actually liked the ending I just think this drama could have wrapped nicely with one more ep. Or even just a long last episode.
Also I don't know how true this is, but it seems they filmed two endings. The other one being CYM and SY getting together. But as many have said here, chinese audiences received differently this drama. Wang Ziru x Chen Yiming couple was more popular than Siyu x Chen Yiming. Even the drama weibo published the most popular hashtags people used through its air time being #1 Liu Yang's Affair #2 Chen Yiming and Wang Ziru are together #3 Chen Yiming and Li Siyu broke up.

The filming was kind of finishing, maybe. I think they lost part of January, February, and they could resume shooting in March if I remember correctly.
Just to let everyone know that the ending is messy because they were shooting when the pandemic happened. So when they could get back to work there were only 1 or 2 weeks of schedule shooting left . I still think this could have a more paced ending, but given the circumstances I understand.
