It was a good decision to reveal the ML backstory right now and early. Makes his story more understandable, not audience playing a guessing game and assuming he was a stalker.
Without his backstory a lot of his actions can easily be misinterpreted by the audience. A lot of people on social media already don’t like the ML so it was helpful to reveal his story now.

I mean couldn’t they use technology and makeup to make her look sickly. She already didn’t weigh much irl so making her lose more weight is really unsettling and unhealthy. I work in healthcare so ik that not all cancer patients have to be excessively thin.
