Idk why people are thinking of dropping the show?!Like even though it feels like the story is dragging at pace,…
@theweebgirl I think this just depends on expectations. A lot of people on here who have either considered dropping or getting fed up with the storyline have commented that a lot of recent scenes just exist for the aesthetic factor with repetitional storyline growing a little tiresome and character development going nowhere . Personally as someone on the fence l have to agree a lot of views are justified, however, I’m the type of person who can’t drop a show as one of the last things which keeps me watching is to know how it ends.
@ BLFANATIC I don’t want to give away too much in case you ever want to read it, but in the original webtoon…
@iciclemelts Yeah this webcomic is hard to find in English as I don’t think that there are many translated versions out . A previous comment did mention that if you have a translating app/ website tool then there is the possibility to go to asianwiki and look for the drama under notes with the original link to the webcomic. It is in Korean on this website and you do have to pay with coins for further chapters, but if you have a translating tool, you can read along :). ( It is a shame that there isn’t an official English version but hopefully if this series does attain enough popularity, there will be scanned translations in the future :).j
And you have to tell the world you are straight as if you are questioning your sexuality. Nobody cares if you…
@Mattylucky I don’t think they meant any harm by their comment. They were probably just commenting that they aren’t a massive fan of BL/ GL shows and were a little confused towards whether this was a BL show or not.
Came here from tiktok, the bromance brought me here, l will give it a shot, l hope it is not queer baiting, and…
@ BLFANATIC I don’t want to give away too much in case you ever want to read it, but in the original webtoon Nam Soo Hyun is revealed to be gay. Yeo Joon isn’t (and nor will these two end up together from current events) but you may be surprised to see the events which happen :). As other comments have said this isn’t a ‘ queer baiting’ show. The channel that airs ‘At A Distance, Spring is Green’ on KBS has a reputation of being conservative towards more “ controversial” issues. Therefore the show has probably changed it up more to a “ bromance” in order to appeal to mainstream Korean audiences.
Do you know were to watch this? I'm a bit curious about it
If I remember correctly, it is available on YouTube on a Korean channel called ‘ Real Ending’. I don’t think any English subtitles have been released yet, however, they probably will be uploaded at a later date :).
@purple cotton I suppose this depends what you’re looking for in this drama. If you’re here for the cinematography,…
@ Young Soo You have some really good points here. I also had the feeling that DAYS would have been a stronger story if it had been shortened in length. I think sometimes this is where Japanese dramas often stand out with screenwriting.Yes, they do not have the same production value as K-dramas , however, they can still vary between 8-12 episode formats and still feel fresh and new. For me, DAYS would’ve have probably had an arguably more fortified storyline if it had shortened its length ( like you said to either 10, or may at a push 12 episodes), or at least have given more of an over-arching storyline. ( In order to make these 16 episodes feel more engaging.) It is a shame as there are some interesting themes, but I agree that they are often swallowed up by prosaic dialogues and plot moments which is making it feel repetitive for a lot of viewers.
@purple cotton I suppose this depends what you’re looking for in this drama. If you’re here for the cinematography,…
@ Young Soo I totally agreed with the music. It is very beautiful in its own right and I know exactly where you’re coming from with the storyline also. The scripting, for me personally I think it depends. ‘ Goblin’ was an interesting case as if I remember reading up correctly, the ending had already been predetermined ( even before filming), however, Eun Sook used public reception ( after being critiqued for ‘Descendants of the Sun’) in order to write the script ongoing. However, I do agree that having a concrete script or at least a storyboard often helps to create a more coherent storyline. :)
I'm watching this for Park Bo Young. Currently on ep 4 and I feel the story is too slow for me. Should I continue?…
@purple cotton I suppose this depends what you’re looking for in this drama. If you’re here for the cinematography, the cast and just the fantasy elements, you’ll like it. However, if you’re for an engaging on the edge of your seat drama with profoundly written-characters and storyline ( as @Young Soo pointed out sometimes appears tedious) then this drama probably isn’t it for you.
I don't think soohyun will date yeojun's brother in the drama. to be fair, this happened late into the webtoon…
@ Faye Waters This could be the case, however, this may also be to do with KBS. Respectfully, the channel has always been very conservative when it comes to these sorts of issues, so it wouldn’t be surprising if they just scrapped it to avoid controversy…
@ilovekcdrama No, please do not worry about your comment offending me. If anything this has been a very interesting talk as I love to see different sides. I certainly agree that hopefully future viewers will be able to make their own concise jugement on DAYS than some of the more ‘ extreme’ views on here. If anything thank you for the opportunity to have this talk. :)
@firechan This again boils down to personal taste. No problem if you like it, but respectively there are a lot…
@ DoctorBlackk I definitely like it I must admit :) ( Especially Darin’s ‘ We Are’- I haven’t seen the drama yet but I can tell already that this song will have been used to heighten more melodramatic or haunting moments as it is beautiful.) I’m sure you probably have , but have you ever heard Goblin or It’s Okay Not To Be Okay’s OST before? ( I know it’s cliche but I absolutely love Heize and Han Soo Ji’s Round and Round as well as Elaine’s Wake Up.)
Article 19 of the UDHR ( Universal Declaration of Human Rights) states that "everyone shall have the right to hold opinions without interference" and "everyone shall have the right to freedom of expression; this right shall include freedom to seek, receive and impart information and ideas of all kinds, regardless of frontiers, either orally, in writing or in print, in the form of art, or through any other media of his choice” so long as the individual respects “the rights and reputation” of others. That is a given that there are limitations on freedom of speech and I agree if it goes against the no-harm principle, then it should not be allowed. As someone sitting on the fence and without real strong emotions to either strong positivity or negativity for the show, I can admit as as an observer that both sides have voiced their opinion a lot in the comment section. Some of these are wonderful by validations or sharing constructive criticism, whilst others are more personal attacks upon individuals. As I said in my original comment, I am not validating this for either side nor am I stating that positive comments are not being attacked either ( I.e “ both sides”). However, I do believe that there have been some nasty things said by both sides in the comment section towards one another which are not particularly respectful towards the individual ( I.e along the line of argument of “ people who are overly pretentious who watch this show” or the opposite with “ people are not open minded or intelligent enough to understand this show”). It’s too idealistic, but I really do wish that we could be share our opinions ( evidently so long as they are not harmful to the individuals) with respect rather than being attacked personally ( on both sides) . 😞
@firechan This again boils down to personal taste. No problem if you like it, but respectively there are a lot of dramas with more ear-catching OSTs out there.
I agree..i think instead of the love triangle plot, the writer should have just given more screen time to the…
@kisses83 Yes, I’ve also seen Beauty Inside ( the screenwriter’s other work) back a couple of years ago. Ironically, I actually preferred the ideology of the side couple over our mains, but agreed it wasn’t coherently written in a similar manner to DAYS. Agreed entirely also on that aspect with the deity. A very interesting character but the show doesn’t really use this time to explore more with this relationship with Myul Mang. The issue of the side characters have been on my mind for awhile also. Ironically, there are times that they are more interesting than our main leads; Young Prince isn’t as arrogant as he seems( though it would have been interesting to have understood about how a teen has achieved so much success at such a young age), the Doctor has a heart of gold ( and seriously what about the book he’s writing upon? It seemed a wasted plot line not to talk more about this - especially as Dong Kyung is his patient and his publisher agent) and of course then there’s Dalgona ( I get that we do have a couple of interactions between Dong Kyung and Dalgona about their illnesses, but this was again a wasted potential as they are on the same wavelength. Even if it had just been a case that we saw Dalgona in a moment of weakness with her illness, ringing someone or planning her funeral, it may have helped to resonate and bring it home for Dong Kyung.)
😞
