Playing second lead isn't going backward. Sure antis will say that but what's the difference between her playing the lead or the second? They are gonna hate regardless. It's better to play second lead to someone who is far more experienced veteran so she can learn from them like Sun Li or Tong Liya or Liu Tao. Long gone are the days where we would see the likes of Hu Ge and Wang Kai in one drama or Hu Ge and Eddie Peng in one drama. I guess because they are all the same generation, but the toxic fan service demands weren't as prevalent as they are now so these big names did not care about playing lead or second.
