That’s a valid point — the power pulling them together is definitely what’s limiting her agency and preventing her from making better choices. But what I really mean is, she’s coming up with these over-the-top schemes while completely forgetting that he has the main character halo. She's stressing me out with these decisions and bad schemes.
I can totally see why the female lead didn’t advance in her acting career in real life LOL. How do you land a role in a drama and have zero understanding of the characters? She really did just skim through the script and called it a day.
She simply lacks common sense. She's plotting but doesn't know how to plot LOL
Ffs, now we got an annoying sister lol at least give us some fun characters lol the directing for the show is the best part, the schemes and political intrigue are a bit dry.
I find the main wife an interesting character. Women as pawns are always interesting to watch. If there was no FL, she would be a good pairing for the ML as she is definitely clever and strategic. But the FL has the added bonus of having no historical ties to the ML.

It's better to say they earn each other's space beside each other. He's already on elevated ground as man and a official while she is a hostage Princess. He already benefits from the world they live in. That imbalance reflects the gender dynamics of their world, but it’s also a reminder of how often women's value is framed as something conditional. I just want my girl to have some good days so its good that the novel gives her some happiness.

They each have their own burdens to carry. But he will always have a trump card and that he is a man in ancient times. That single fact grants him privileges and protections she’ll never have, no matter how clever or resilient she is. While she has to constantly calculate her moves just to survive, he can afford to stumble and still be caught by the safety net of a patriarchal world.
So while their emotional burdens may feel equal, the consequences of their choices are not.
ML is finding out that he is underestimating his new Princess. These little schemes of his might work on his inner harem, but she’s spent her entire life navigating treacherous people and surviving in environments where trust was a luxury. While his concubines were likely coddled and protected by their families, the female lead had to sharpen her instincts just to stay alive. He’s playing games; she’s playing for survival.

Why is everyone up in arms about it being a harem? Sis isn't wallflower. She'll be fine.
