That twist in episode 48... I feel so bad for Huole... You can see how much pain he's in right now... the closest person to him, the one he loved and respected so much, turned out to be the main villain. Great performance. Can't wait for the rest of the story.
How good this drama so far? A good rating for drama is usually 8 and above. I see Ruan Lanzhu( The spirealm) as…
Don't pay much attention to the rating, the drama is very good. Solid and captivating plot, great acting, interesting relationship dynamics and nice humor. Give it a try
About episode 29. Finally captain Song started to trust detective Qin and accept his out-of-the-box ideas!! I wondered how long this would continue, Huole repeatedly asking him "Trust me"... Now they really are partners. And that awkward "thank you", I can't 😂😂😂 See you tomorrow!
I think I should use a tactics of waiting a day or two to accumulate more episodes to watch 😂 Just two short episodes a day is not enough! Very engaging story indeed.
This was filmed in like 2020 or 2021 right? Why did they keep it on a shelf for such a long time?
Yes, it was filmed in 2021. The drama spent almost 3 years on a shelf even without the distribution license and obtained it just two months ago. I don't know why it took so long. But on the other hand now it's very intreresting to see what Xia Zhiguang's performance was like before The Spirealm and Dashing Youth :)
Solid script and great acting! We should have seen this performance long time ago. Better late then never of course...
And I've just found out that director of this drama Xin Peng also directed Strange Tales of Tang Dynasty 1&2!! No wonder they feel similar to me! One drama of Republican China, those two are costume with fantasy element but style, vibes and quality are same.
I rewatched five times that dialogue in ep 10 where they say "Xiaobao, do you know? I might die there. - That would be the best. I don't want to see you anymore". As if, Xiaobao! They are still so deeply in love with each other... And yeah, the drama has some drawbacks, but it definitely has strong side too. I can't believe we are close to the finale already. That damn schedule with two episodes per week was maddening.
I finally caught up on the episodes I missed, 5-8. Whew! Li Le and Wang Yun Kai are doing great job, the story evolves however I have mixed feelings about it now after that scene in the brothel... I assume the drama follows the novel so Huai En is really that possessive, but... Isn't he supposed to become more gentle with Xiaobao? Anyway, I'm willing to watch this story to the end. I consider this co-produced project as an experiment. Who knows, maybe it will open the door to more dramas in this genre. Let's see.
I'm not alone who thinks SKCF can be considered as one of the main characters, not just supporting one? He is so bright and interesting and has quite a lot of screen time. I admire his friendship with BDJ 😊
Can't wait for the rest of the story.

Ready to watch the finale no matter what!
