guys im in 16 but of course i saw a lot of preview online.. will they divorce ? i mean i know they will have difficult…
I don't know about the drama but in the novel god forbid they never divorced... :|
I don't think the screenwriter would go out of this line here...

With that mustache and goatee, Ryan Ding looks a bit like that sexy uncle in β€œPursuit of Jade.”
Now that you've mentioned it, yes... he does look a bit like that uncle. πŸ€£πŸ‘

Title The Road to Splendor Spoiler
Ep18, why zhao ling is saying he has no wife. Technically it's correct but aren't they already promised to each…
Remember in his letter he wrote to her "If I fall in battle, you must find a good match. I will become the stars that light your wedding day."
He still considers himself in "battle" and predicament and doesn't want to implicate her.
It was foolish of him but understandable.

Nope. No BL in this series. Shouldn't trust those pics and clips that are presented without context.
And the commenter is fixated on this... strange indeed...

Is this drama worth starting?
It's great. The romance, the plot, the direction, the cinematography, the ost, the acting, the visuals... :)

But everyone has different taste. It peaks around ep 3-4.
I hope it'll become your cup of tea 🍡

How is the romance in this drama so far? Or is it politics heavy with less focus on romance?
It's a romance drama so of course the romance is great. We have a power couple here.
The plot is political heavy too. The storyline is interesting.

I think because he married into her family?! Or is this some kind of female empowerment in the drama? In the novel,…
Thank you for the clarification. πŸ‘ŒπŸ’•

too bad it was just mentioned briefly in a dialogue but was not shown in an actual scene. the writer really should…
The novel is female-centeric. But readers wanted more of Zhao Ling situation so I don't think the screenwriter added his storyline in the drama just bc of the actor.
As a reader myself I wished the drama would focus on his pov and it did though not exactly in the way I wanted.
Both in the novel and in the drama, they are a power couple. They support each other and take care of each other.
ZL's pov was limited bc he was mostly on the frontier and away from capital.
Whenever TY came across a problem, she would always send a letter to him to inform him and get his feedback.
I love this couple so much, whether drama version or the novel version. :)

I was told in the novel he never changed his dislike for FTY. I wish they kept him that way instead of making…
Yes. In the novel, she only had a sickly daughter.
Also, she didn't personally know FTY in the novel.
That's sth the screenwriter came up with.

I think because he married into her family?! Or is this some kind of female empowerment in the drama? In the novel,…
Before they went to Ganlin, she was the one asking him to marry her. So I thought he kind of married into her family and also because in the drama he didn't have anything to his family name. He had some kind of stigma attached to it while Xie had nobility in it?
Anyway, the drama has changed a lot of the original material... I'm happy with some of it and have mixed feelings regarding other things.

He got two concubines with 1 other illicit affair outside... πŸ˜†
Also, he never had a son...
But he was indeed envious of Zhao family.
They were a happy couple in the novel with many children.
The screenwriter has changed a lot so we probably won't see this contrast between Zhao and Yu family.

In the novel, it was worse. At least in the drama we see some of his pov.
In the novel? Oh no...
His achievements were news from outside their residence and he didn't mention his sufferings in his letters to TY. She could only sense them and worry... :(

Why is their home named Xie residence, not Zhao residence? Isn't that historically incorrect for a patriarchal…
I think because he married into her family?!
Or is this some kind of female empowerment in the drama?
In the novel, all her money came from him. He not only was a high official, he had connections to some merchants and got his share from them. He was wealthy. And he wanted to establish a Zhao family of his own and have many children because he was an orphan.
Also in the novel, her surname remained Fu. She didn't change it.
