As I said earlier, this show will be heavily disliked by the non-Asian audience. But I still recommend everyone to watch it. Not because I am a die-hard fan of any of the actors, but because it is so distinctively Asian. One of the things I do not like about Hallyu is that their plots are increasingly becoming more Western, which have made most recent dramas more similar to Western dramas. This drama does a 180 and brings back the classic 90s and 00s cringy, slapstick style back. Pioneers of this style are people like Stephen Chow, but also Quentin Tarantino has borrowed many elements from this to make Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill, Django Unchained and Inglorious Bastards. See it as a cultural expedition to learn about traditional Asian cinema and drama. If you dislike it, you dislike it, but perhaps a new world will open up for you. And do not get detracted by the dread guy too much. He is a bit of a faux-pas.
I would describe the first episode as a mixture of My Sassy Girl and Stephen Chow's Kung Fu Hustle/Shoalin Soccer. I think it will do extremely well in Chinese-speaking countries and probably also Korea, but my gut feeling is that people outside East-Asia will find it childish
It’s not promising but will still keep checking it out to see if it gets better due to leads. What I don’t…
It is actually not a bad anime parody. In fact, I think it is inspired by the works of Hong Kong actor Stephen Chow. If you watch his movies Kung Fu Hustle and Shoalin Soccer, you will see the style back. He is one of the biggest stars due to this slapstick-style of humor. I would not be surprised if the ratings for this drama will explode in the East-Asian countries. In particular in Chinese-speaking countries as they really love this type of humor
The rating for this drama is way too low. This drama is a rollercoaster of emotions. The first few episodes were…
Regarding today's episode... Love that the senior interns are willing to let the younger interns shine.
I absolutely abhor the female executive. There is no legal ground to arrest the three on suspicions of preferential hiring right? I mean, the two younger ones went through the whole process and all rounds were subjective (there was no objective test or whatsoever). I am not sure what scores the female executive gave, but the 3 male executives gave them the highest scores and GYC handed out the lowest. In fact, you can say that it is the opposite of preferential treatment. From an outsider perspective, it seems that they put the two highest scoring interns in the department of the guy that gave them the lowest score. There is no way to prove preferential hiring. The female executive would have more success by accusing GYC of sabotaging the hiring of two strong candidates.
MS' case is also blurry. He was an executive at Ongol. So hiring him as a senior intern is actually below his standards. In fact, MS should sue the company for exploitation.
The rating for this drama is way too low. This drama is a rollercoaster of emotions. The first few episodes were hella funny, followed by a few very serious and deep episodes to flesh out the characters and now the final episodes are both funny and deep.
The drama is actually one big PPL-fest. But the product placements are done so good and funny
Shameless plug for Stephen Chow's Shoalin Soccer. Check out the trailer here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A_6YB59E3Jo
