Rating System (Key Notes):

  • Real Numbers: I use a strict system. 6/10 is "Average." So, anything rated 5 or lower is Bad. A 7/10 is a compliment, not just a "passing grade."
  • I Pick Carefully: I research before I watch. You won't find many "Abysmal" ratings here because I generally don't start shows that look bad.
  • Story First: The plot is the most important thing. Acting and visuals are nice, but they come second to a good story.
  • Objectivity over Star Power: Famous actors do not guarantee high ratings. I judge the character and the script, not the celebrity.

My Ratings

0-3: Terrible
A complete waste of time. Everything is broken: the writing, the acting, and the look. Watching this feels like a punishment.
4-5: Poor
Has big problems. It fails to do what it promised. The bad parts are much bigger than the good parts. Likely has plot holes or bad acting.
5.5: Weak
Frustrating. It might have one good idea, but they messed up the making of it. Not quite "terrible," but I wouldn't tell you to watch it.
6: Average
Generic. It’s not offensive, but it has no soul. It copies other movies and adds nothing new. You will likely forget you watched this within a week.
6.5: Passable
Okay but messy. It tries to be good, but has issues. Maybe it's too slow or looks cheap. Good for background noise, but nothing more.
7: Solid
Good and enjoyable. A "safe" watch. It does its job well. It won't change your life, but you won't regret watching it.
7.5: Strong 
Better than just "solid." It tries something new or has great acting. It's almost great, but misses a few small things.
8: Great
A really fun time. The writing and directing are smart. If there are mistakes, you don't care because you are enjoying it so much.
8.5: Amazing
This stands out. It is special and stays in your memory. Shows great skill. I recommend this to almost everyone.
9: Excellent 
Almost perfect. Great acting, great look, great story. One of the best of its kind. The mistakes are tiny.
9.5: Elite
Incredible skill. It is hard to imagine how to make this better. It hits the target perfectly. A rare achievement.
10: Masterpiece
Legendary. It doesn't just follow the rules; it creates new ones. A perfect work that you will remember for years.
