Even though ep 9 was not the episode I expected, I still did enjoy Yeonsoo invading his space and making Woong re-think his idea of them being able to be just friends. Although I'm already certain Woong knows they can't be just friends. It could even be considered a little selfish. His idea of not wanting to be together, which is also understandable because nothing has been resolved yet and he is probably just protecting himself, but wanting to keep her by his side because 'he can't live without her', completely disregards Yeonsoo's feelings. However I do love how Yeonsoo is slowly coming to terms with herself and going after what she wants.
I am also very intrigued about Jiwoong's current relationship with his mum and the nightmare that Woong had. Definitely excited to learn more about that. I don't know how I only just realised that loneliness is a very big and important theme of this show.
Now the things I did not enjoy was the lack of romance. I know that it's a personal taste how much romance a drama has, but I feel as if the show keeps building up to something happening between them and last week we finally had a kiss. Knowing that, I expected progress on their relationship, COMMUNICATION, at least one of them saying something, anything. We do see Yeonsoo trying but it didn't get us anywhere. Yes, I know I should be patient but it's hard. I didn't expect the love square storyline to be pushed to the fore front instead of focusing on Woong and Yeonsoo fixing their relationship. I really don't want this kdrama to be generic or typical, with the same old love triangle/square. I don't dislike NJ but I am going to find her annoying because she's interested in Woong and I'm team Yeonsoo the same with Jiwoong.
A problem that a lot of kdramas have is unnecessary episodes not all kdramas need to be 16+ episodes which are 1 hour+. Where you have plenty of scenes to skip and it wouldn't make a difference to the plot if you did and episode 9 ALMOST felt like that.
I do know that this has to happen not just for the main characters to realise who it is they truly love and confront their feelings but also the second leads so they can also overcome their feelings and move on, especially Jiwoong. But I thought this show would have maybe done it differently considering the show has managed to make a simple plot special so far.
This is definitely the first episode I wont be re-watching and the first time I'm not excited about the next episodes preview, however I still have a lot of faith, Kim Dami is my favourite actress and I would say Our beloved summer is still one of the best dramas I've watched. Just had to let out my frustration, hopefully I'll come back tomorrow a lot happier 😂
I really enjoyed episode 1-6 of this show, however, episode 7 & 8 kind of had me on edge. I think it's because…
I agree, the show has mainly been in Woong’s perspective and it would be nice to see from Yeonsoo’s perspective Woong’s flaws in their relationship and not just the constant criticism of Yeonsoo. Like Jiwoong said. ‘breaking up isn’t usually one persons fault.
But we know from previous kdramas that episode 8, there’s always some sort of shift. I have a feeling that from now a lot of the show will be from Yeonsoo’s perspective and will probably be her working on being more open with her emotions and expressing them to Woong. Overall, her going after what she wants and just growing as a person. Well I hope so 😂
