This kind of setup is very common in c-dramas, esp during my parents generation. For me, shows like Fated Hearts, Are You the One or The Prisoner of Beauty are more of my type. Everyone has their own preference, this is why I’m stalling to watch this drama after reading the posts here.

You are right, I read novels & watch dramas to feel happy, not to feel miserable. On the bright side, there are a few good c dramas with great ending that I can rewatch many times.

I’m enjoying Whispers of Fate - so far okay, dropped Fight for Love (I like spontaneous and straightforward shows, can’t stand circles). Rewatching Fated Hearts for the third times 😜

I was about to say similar things to Lizzy here, SMLs in many dramas are not equally as annoying as this one. There are varying degree of obsessiveness of SMLs depending on the script writers I supposed. This particular one is absolutely annoying, I fast forward every time STL pops up on the screen.
