Finally saw it. Great vibes. Definitely had the vibes of the drama. I wish they'd gone in a little different direction with it, but I was satisfied with the ending. MJJ still deserved better from the movie than what he got.

Jebus. I've written this like 5 times and my laptop keeps erasing it. okay. I know what aroace is. I am aroace. What Sakuko desires at the beginning of the story, and what she gets at the end according to your assessment are two completely different things and that is just the biggest let down ever. What she wants is a QPR (Queer Platonic Relationship)/PLP (Platonic Life Partner). But what she gets at the end of it is nothing. Congrats, you made some new friends. And HOPEFULLY someone she can put on documents as an emergency contact. Cool, my priest can do that. Takahashi doesn't want what she wants. He makes that abundantly clear. Which is made further apparent by the fact that they have zero relationship development outside of their interactions with Kazu. They have zero connection to each other, but what she desires IS A CONNECTION. The implication that aroace people can't have a relationship, with someone else aro/ace or with an allo, is absurd and shitty allonormativity. Now if at the end of this drama they are in a polycule, that's perfect. Cause Takahashi and Sakuko have zero interaction with each other without Kazu. Their relationship doesn't exist without Kazu. Even in the end. So as a PLP/QPR with each other makes sense. They are in a committed relationship with each other. They are the priority in each others' lives. Their lives are intertwined. They are each other's family. But only if Kazu is in their polycule. Cause the other two don't interact with each other in any meaningful fashion of a relationship without Kazu. Hence, polycule.

So they're a polycule? That's the only way I can make this make sense in my mind.

Because they don't exist. They're based off of a video game series, and 2 and 4 don't exist.

that's the default setting whenever an air date is unknown. it was "Dec 2019", but they changed the official weibo account to 2020 right before Love and Destiny aired so everyone is assuming some time in 2020 at this point.

Sadly this one is not for me. 10 eps in and I'm dropping it. Every scene is just filled with bitter hatred and anger and melancholy and the constant music in minor just makes it worse. It's like the whole drama is the ~5-10 year time skip of WY or MHF, but without any of the previous investment of their relationship to make it worth it and hope for their future.

I am not in the same camp as breathofair. It has A LOT of separation and I consider it way more open ended than With You. But everything before the great separation is sunshine and rainbows and cuteness and amazing. If you must check it out (the cute is very solid) I'd quit after the big breakup and just write how you want it to end in your mind.

What will make or break this drama for you is the last 10 episodes. If you can handle that much heartbreak with minimal resolution like With You (but with 100x more heartbreak cause they beat the sad into you for an intensely unnecessary amount of screen time) it's a great drama. I am sadly not in that camp.

It's airing Saturdays at 8 starting on the 23rd, so a date change has been made if you are particularly excited about this one like I am. Thankfully it's not on at the same time as my other show!

It's funny how as we go on in our experience of dramaland we get more and more picky with what we will watch. I only watched 2 of your listed dramas because I knew I'd hate the other ones from description and cast alone.

And one of the two I only watched because I was desperate and I still don't know why I finished it: SWDBS. Although I didn't see the chemistry everyone else saw. I saw it more as a brother/sister thing than romantic, so it was really hard for me to buy into despite the cute (and I love me some cute).

School 2017 I loved, but I never care about the plot anyway, and that's probably why you didn't like it. It's clearly not about the plot, so who cares what happens there. It's all about the friendships and the cute shit. Plot? Who needs plot? I still don't understand why or how kdramas have plots.

But I feel that if you care about the plot in a kdrama you're doing it wrong. They're clearly the most poorly plot written things in the universe that people expose themselves to on purpose besides Harlequin novels or shitty fanfics (or most fanfics if I'm being honest with myself... and they have a lot in common with how kdramas are written... coincidence...), so it must be something else that makes them so enjoyable. For me it's about the characters. If I want good plot I'll watch a Chinese wuxia or an American or Swedish show. I'm not watching a kdrama.

It's definitely at least partially dubbed. You can hear it in the first ep with the mom's voice. Her sound room is so bad. Like... so bad. I was actually really pissed because otherwise the production value has been through the roof!

It's been pulled for copyright already. I wish someone would just pick it up or they release it cause having to go to other places that are less legal isn't my fave. Plus I could use some subs ;)

No, that's part of the Jade lover story line. You know, that post description that is totally inaccurate cause it doesn't cover even a little bit of the story? That's what that was about most likely. They're probably jut going to play up the Jade lovers thing and the relationship conflict of separation.

Anyone know if they're going to show post marriage or not? I'm kinda assuming with the episode count that they will, but I don't want to start it if they won't. I regret doing that with the Thai version so much.
