I honestly dont get it. Why is everyone comfortable with this one but not 2521??
In fact this one is so much more creepy.
I agree with the choking. Like what? If a person chokes anyone they have a 10 percent more likely hold to murder said person. If someone ever does that to you file for assualt and get a restraining order ASAP if you can. Or just get away. No contact.
Additionally, post WWII and pre-Korean War. Within South Korea it was those who supported Japan that were able to gain more power in the police and government as they were able to make more of a living before and already had positions.
These people all changed their names from Japanese names to Korean names but were the same person.
Korea's first dictator/president Park went to military school in Japan.
South Korea's Jeju uprising history showing corrupt South Korean police troops commiting crimes against Jeju seperatists/natives was not to be talked about in history until 1990s 50 years after its occurance.
Eyes of Dawn is a facinating Korean epic that opened my eyes to a lot of the elements of Korean history. Which is important as an American Korea like Vietnam is also part of American war history as well as current.
It sure is. The first episodes of Pachinko where they announce the death of the FORMER emporer actually kind of showed how respected the imperioral period still was in 1980.
Sure everyone loves you when your dead but you figure someone would say "he is a war criminal anyways why do we care? Why are people bowing?".
If you can I recommend grabbing your family and watching the drama with them as well. My parents were able to provide relatable family stories and expierences. As well as my family has lived through the late 80s and I have not.
Even parents who don't like kdrama will like this.
This drama made it clear that this whole world is a place of itself. Its not a story thats supposed to be based in Korea.
I am hoping in this one though they are both adults. Also Can you hear my voice is a bit more yikes in terms of age difference. An oldie.

I love the actors in this one though.
Jeju Island is beautiful as is. But then again we have Jeju Gatsby hong sister drama.
She is too vulnerable of a character for me to feel comfortable with an older man giving a helping hand and a stanger at that.
Nor do I think (just finishing episode 2 right now) he can be considered as a guardian figure.

Nightmare fuel.

Only in the 70s and 90s was Japanese gov. able to acknowledge such war crimes I believe.
some wikis on war crime denial are interesting.
Variety show worker? No sleep??
And to think we all saw her going towards an advocate career. *sigh*
Just rewatched Faith and I could definitly notice how the character was meant for Lee Joon Gi
