You might want to re-watch it. The ending was perfect. This is a redemption drama as well as a thriller.
Why did Nakama's character do what she did at the end?
Why was she obsessed with Rei's character's family?
Why did she lie?
It's all in there.
So what do you think of this drama? I thought they were successful in portraying the share house as a viable living arrangement. One of the most qualities of jdramas that I like is the absence of 'bad guys.' Even in this drama where Nishikido played such an awful person, he still got rehabilitated in the end (sort of).
P.S. Nakama Yukie is one of my favorite actors too.
I am surprised that in none of the reviews or comments so far is there any mention of Nakama Yukie. The reason why I like this drama so much is the intensity of her portrayal of Yankumi. The dramas center around that character. The enjoyment that I get from this drama (and the two sequels) is the continual reaffirmation of her commitment to her 'precious students.' This serious massage is neatly balanced by the humor created by her complete ditsiness regarding good looking men. And of course Nakama Yukie is beautiful to watch. We don't want surprises. We want to see Yankumi do it again.
This is the best jdrama I've watched. It is slow developing, has no 'action' but the acting is terrific and the script is flawless. You may have to see it twice to fully appreciate it. If you like Nakama Yukie as much as I do, that should be no problem. Caution: some versions have English subs that are so bad they destroy the story. Look for subs by Momoflower.
