Agreed. Although I’m still enjoying the show and looking forward to next eps (I think mainly because I’m waiting…
It certainly looks like it from the teaser - LOL.

I am enjoying this but the ML character is a bit of whiny petulant self absorbed man baby, who could not decide…
The ML reminds me of a guy who was apparently so interested in me that he told my parents -- but not me :) (Probably why the ML irritates me so much -- LOL).

He seemed very shocked when I up and got engaged to another man. (Not that I would have entertained him anyway, as I couldn't imagine being married to someone who has so little get-up-and-go in life they can't even tell the woman they like that they like her. Can you imagine how useless a man like that would be with any major life decision? :)

I will say, for all my bitching today, there MUST be something about this drama I'm enjoying as I'm still watching -- ROTFL. (Now roll-on tomorrow and we can finally see them get together -- HOPEFULLY!!!!! -- and that might take the edge off my annoyance even more).

Alrighty off to watch the new episodes of Fate Chooses You (Brilliant, btw) and then back to work.

y do u think the ML is balls-less ? other than not standing up for his staff EVER - is it because he hasn't confessed?
Both things. His behavior with his staff and the fact that he knows Kevin Tan is going after her, but still refuses to pursue her properly, and just backs down every time she turns him down.

Even Xue Rui is becoming annoyed with him too as in today's episode and knowing how much Ji Feng likes Miyu said "The relationship between her and Tan is almost a done deal, and you're still holding back".

Ball-less in his work behavior and ball-less in his relationships. From the previews, though, it appears he may soon be growing a pair and hallelujah to that -- ROTFL.

I usually finish once I've hit the midway point, as too much time wasted otherwise :) And I am STILL holding out hope this will improve once the romance kicks in. And honestly, I'm not a big romance person - ie: I don't mind if a drama doesn't have it -- but I think it might make so much of this one less infuriating if all this build-up we've had for AGES actually comes to fruition :)

Ji Feng, who initially was hesitant, has been very ready to confess for a while, but she's been pushing him away…
"but I'm not certain she was waiting for a garbage site confession" -- Hahahaha, oh my God, I laughed so hard at that statement :) And so true.

For me as a fan of the actress i will continue watching the drama and because it's called a drama of course there…
Zhu Zhu is always brilliant, even with this character who is annoying beyond belief. She's probably the big reason I'm still watching (and the upcoming romance), and Wallace, who I also like as an actor, just not this character. Yet, at least.

Title The Epoch of Miyu Spoiler
the FL is soo into the ML that she's dreaming about them together lol -- but now she's acting like a teenage lol…
Plus, don't forget, she was outside in the rain for 10 minutes and IMMEDIATELY came down with acute pneumonia. (I just can't with Chinese writers sometimes -- hahahahaha).

Title The Epoch of Miyu Spoiler
There was a time I used to enjoy watching Wallace Chung Dramas... but last one "Second Chance Romance"…
She's still somewhat of a doormat and we're now at Ep 29 so, yep, you may find it nerve-wracking or frustrating. But... even though I'm infuriated beyond belief about both her and the ML's behavior, I must be enjoying some of it as I'm bitching like crazy about it but.. still watching :)

Same. She always needs a savior, she jumps to ridiculous lengths to "please" a guest who should have been…
Yep. He just stands there most of the time looking apologetic and incapable as one of his staff (usually Miyu) gets screamed at and then, in private, says something somewhat supportive to them later. He's just so bland and non-committal about everything he does.

And I may be biased as I just got off binge-watching The Outsider where Vengo Gao's CEO doesn't put up with sh*t for 2 seconds. From anybody. Now that man has a backbone :) (A very well-written character too).

Yep, the upcoming romance is the only thing that's still keeping me engaged. If we didn't have that to look forward to, I might have dropped it by now :)

I agree. At this point all the characters are written as NPCs bc the story demands that Miyu needs to win constantly.…
NPCs exactly, and not even interesting NPCs. The only two characters even worth anything at this point are chef Li Qiao Qi and Xue Rui. The rest are completely bland and forgettable.

If you think, like I do, that the plot has devolved into infuriatingly stupid, you should see the Douban rating -- 5.4 out of 10, which literally means "unwatchable" - and be thankful people on MDL are being much kinder than the Chinese. So far, at least.

https://movie.douban.com/subject/36449637/

To some extent, I feel sorry for the writer as it's her first produced script, but the writing is the problem here. IMO, she has the makings of a decent writer, as her plot was initially interesting. Because of that, she could probably have made her story work very well if it was 25 episodes instead.

But the awfulness of everything that happens to Miyu has been dragged out to 38 EPISODES, when a drama has to be spectacularly well-written to stand a 38-episode plot. That's meant it's become draggy, annoying and frustrating after seeing Episode after Episode after Episode of Miyu being abused by almost everyone around her, then promoted, then abused again, then saved by the ML, then standing up for herself (sort of) then.... rinse, repeat, rinse, repeat.

And we're almost 30 episodes in and STILL haven't had the ML and FL get together.

It's a shame, as a tightly-written plot would have created an extremely fun drama. Instead, a loosely-written repetitive plot dragged out over 38 episodes has become an exercise in viewing frustration.

it's getting boring 1. I'm tired of her needing a savior 2. I'm tired of her jeopardizing herself for others3.…
Same. She always needs a savior, she jumps to ridiculous lengths to "please" a guest who should have been removed from the hotel by security the minute she started screaming and threatening staff, and yep, she seems to be pretty much running the whole hotel herself. Plus, she must be the unluckiest person in China, as EVERYTHING bad happens to her. :)

So disappointed with this one. The first half was brilliant. The last half? I want to put my fist through the screen half the time, she's just such a weak and annoying woman. Then again, she's probably a perfect match for the ML, as he has no balls either :)

You can watch it on Daily Motion, which is a legal site. Kind of like YouTube?
Cool. And I'm NOT saying I don't use bootleg sites :), as sometimes there's no choice if a drama isn't licensed properly for my region, but it's good for people to know what are legal sources and what aren't, IMO, and then they can choose.

Sorry, but the situations in this drama at this point are bordering on the ridiculous. IN NO HOTEL ON THE PLANET would a staff member do what this ridiculous woman did to find a hearing aid. And then, of course, she FAINTS. And as for Ji Feng, what a ball-less wonder he's turned out to be. Just pathetically bland and weak.

Honestly, it's devolved so badly into bordering on drivel. Liked Miyu's character at the beginning, so bloody tired of her at this point. And the writing is melodramatic junk.

Will finish it, but will be SO happy when it's done.

It's a legal site, and is the French version of YouTube. But, just like YouTube, people who don't own the licenses to C-dramas upload them there. You can find The Epoch of Miyu all over YouTube as well, but none of them are legally uploaded. When iQIYI/WeTV etc eventually complain, their entire channels will be taken down as what they are doing is copyright theft.

And btw, IMO, YOUKU does the best job out of all of them, as it often uploads full dramas to YouTube once they have ended their run. Then you can watch them legally. :)

Just an FYI -- The videos on Daily Motion aren't legal. The site is legal, but the people uploading The Epoch of Miyu videos are not legal licensors. So it's just as much bootleg as any other bootleg site when it comes to C-dramas.

Because MDL has a huge problem with trolls who aren't even watching a drama but downrate is massively because…
The only ratings that matter for any C-drama are those in China. Chinese production companies pay ZERO attention to ratings or popularity overseas. So MDL ratings mean less than nothing. And in China, it's going gangbusters -- #1 drama on various rankings. So no worries, eh? :)
