He's starting to look like many older Asian actors who have plastic surgery to look younger, and it just makes them look, well... plastic. 😀 He looks okay now, but let's hope he doesn't overdo it with the cosmetic surgery, eh? 😉
🙂🙂🙂 I almost stopped watching it 10 minutes in as his poofy hair bothers me so much. Want to get my hand and smash it down. 😂At Ep 5 though, and loving it so much
An excellent start. Three episodes in and it's immediately grabbed my attention. Zhu Zhu is so incredibly beautiful too. Loved her in Why Is He Still Single? (superb drama), and happy to see she's just as good in this. Wallace Chung is excellent, as always, and the cinematography is very pretty. Also love that it's set in Shanghai :)
Can already sense this will be one of my favorites of this year.
Checked first 2 eps. When l realize she went there from future etr l checked last ep and now lm done with it.
Don't worry. You didn't miss much. I'm on Ep 13 and am honestly beginning to doubt I'll ever finish it (been trying for 2 months). The FL is horrendously awful (acts like a 6 year old child, sounds like she's 3 years old most of the time) and the plot is going nowhere.
Loved him in Yellow Handkerchief. It was that drama that began my love of K-dramas. Pity Korean culture nowadays is so toxic and poisonous, as the entire culture continues to hound people to their deaths.
Haven't watched a drama in a while that has seen such a fall in quality between seasons. Disappointing, as Season 1 is superb.
Xiao Shun Yao is still excellent (but he always gives a solid performance, so that's to be expected), and he's doing wonders with the terrible script, but if it wasn't for him, I'd likely have dropped it by now.
Episode 19 - and we've finally found a tomb, but it's still not remotely interesting. It's like the screenwriter ran out of ideas after Season 1's script, and just threw in "constantly being chased by creepy crawlies" just for kicks. Hate this beyond measure :)
EDIT: Aaarrrggggh -- Episode 22, and literally NOTHING has happened yet.
Only watched Ep 1 before I dropped it, but I think this is even worse written than Fangs of Fortune, and that…
You may want to learn to read before commenting with stupidity, as I said I watched Episode 1 and it's badly-written. So, if the first episode, which is meant to pull the viewer in, is horribly written, chances are the rest of it isn't good either.
And no, my opinion of him and his writing isn't "based on his plagiarism accusations", but on him being found guilty of plagiarism in a court of law (TWICE -- once on appeal), and on subsequent accusations of plagiarism from a plethora of Chinese writers, and on watching several of his dramas/movies and finding his writing to be poor.
Honestly, sooooo tired of fangirls on here telling everyone else what to think and say because they're "offended" that someone else doesn't like a drama. It's the height of stupidity.
8.2 is not bad for the start, knowing that many ppl are sceptical, don't like GJM and his style, and the plot…

He's not a good writer, and has a habit of stealing his "ideas" from other much better writers (he's been found guilty of plagiarism with massive fines he had to pay at least once, with accusations of plagiarism several other times after that first big court case), so I didn't expect a lot from this writing-wise, but it's worse than I expected.
May come back to it at a later date but there are much better dramas to watch IMO (loving Pursuit of Jade, The Secret of the Lost Pearl and Love Beyond the Grave).
EDIT: And NOT rating this, as I generally don't rate dramas if I haven't watched at least 5 or 6 episodes.
They’re focused on making everything beautiful but the writing is shit, they try too hard to not make a character…
Was planning on putting off watching it as I hated Fangs of Fortune (same director/writer - first half excellent, second half trash, pretty to look at but vacuous in content) but gave up, and watched Episode 1. Nope. Writing is poor and the acting is not great. A shame as this was on my 'Must Watch' list as it has a superb cast and I love Ju Jing Yi, but if even the first episode is cringe-worthy bad, I don't hold out much hope for the rest of it. May come back to it when its ended after others have given their opinion but, so far, many other much better dramas to watch, IMO.
Do I need to watch Princess Agents to understand this?
It directly follows on from Princess Agents, so if you don't watch it, it's likely you won't understand a huge part of the story. Synopsis on MAL, btw, isn't even remotely correct, as that's the plot of Princess Agents.
this gives me fangs of fortune vibes. and i was right when i checked the screenwriter and director after watching…
Sorry, ignore what I just said :) And yep, same writer and director as Fangs of Fortune, which is why I'm putting off watching this until it ends to see viewer reaction. HATED FoF with a passion (gave it a 7 out of 10 due only to the excellent cast and gorgeous art direction/CGI).
It started out brilliantly, ended up with nothing but stupidity so, if same, it would be a no watch for me, sadly, as the cast is superb.
EDIT: Guo is also a serial plagiarist (found guilty in court, paid huge damages) so, apparently, not someone with good morals.
One of the most fun action dramas I've watched in a while, and FAR better than last year's Time Raiders, which I struggled to finish it was so badly written and draggy. Should be rated in the 8s and not 7.5, IMO.
Holy sheeyut, like I don't already have enough of a backlog, THIS would have to release tomorrow. ROTFL.
So psyched though. Big Ju Jing Yi fan (loved her in In Blossom), and it's been TOO long since she's shown back up. Can't wait for this one as it's one of the best casts I've seen in eons. (Even Wang Duo, Chang Hua Sen and Fan Shi Qi in guest roles!)
And yep, the hair color looks weird on him.

Now onwards to Season 2 :)
