I made an account to write this review because I disliked this show that much.

I saw the rating for this show and went into it assuming it was going to be a worthwhile watch. The beginning of the show seemed interesting, but it soon became such a drag. Nonetheless, I continued watching to see how the show would progress and how they would conclude the story. After finishing the show, this felt like some of the biggest waste of time I’ve ever spent. I have no idea why they made this 16 episodes. I barely cared for any of the characters outside of the main few.

I feel like 90% of the show is everyone being sad that Cha Yu Ri died, and there really isn’t any other story. The main idea is that she comes back as part of them accepting her death, allowing them to separate under their own terms rather than through a sudden accident. They should not have even included the part where she can stay alive if she takes her place. I feel like it would have reinforced the inevitability involved with one’s passing and emphasize the importance of truly accepting the passage of time and cherishing the fleeting moment of one's life. Instead she has the opportunity to live but doesn't take it despite everyone saying she should, and everyone being okay with her taking her place. The only potential downside is that her daughter will see ghosts.

One of my biggest annoyances is that they keep telling the viewer that Jo Kang Hwa and Oh Min Jung are deeply in love, but it definitely didn’t seem like it. It was so frustrating because the only reason I know that they love each other is because Cha Yu Ri constantly mentions it throughout the show, and that is why she cannot take her place. Additionally, Jo Kang Hwa talks about how he feels guilty about living on despite Cha Yu Ri’s passing. This falls flat for me since the show barely shows him moving on. Even though he gets remarried, his relationship with his new wife is awkward, and he doesn’t do his work properly because of his feelings toward Cha Yu Ri. Oh Min Jung even tells him this later. From what I saw, it seemed like Cha Yu Ri cared tremendously more about Jo Kang Hwa and Seo Woo, but I guess since the show said otherwise, it doesn’t matter.

If the show emphasized Jo Kang Hwa and Oh Min Jung’s relationship more and demonstrated their chemistry, I would be able to better understand and accept this premise. For instance, maybe show more moments where Oh Min Jung helps to fill the emotional void left in Jo Kang Hwa due to Cha Yu Ri’s death. Additionally Oh Min Jung mentions how difficult it is to start and repair the family after what Cha Yu Ri left behind, and I guess I’ll just have to take her word for it because they do not really show her struggles to raise and repair the family. I guess we see people judge her for being a stepmother and acting indifferent, but that's it. We don't really see her attempts at learning to be a good mother and wife outside of maybe a 10 second flashback. It's mostly Cha Yu Ri saying that Oh Min Jung is nice, a good mother, and important to the family. None of these are really shown. The show even starts with the Seo Woo almost plugging a wet plug into an exposed outlet.

Also, one of the main conflicts is how the daughter sees ghosts, which leads her to hide inside the freezer. Cha Yu Ri doesn’t want her daughter to see ghosts because it can harm her. This was a really dumb point in the show. Like, how is this really a problem? Also, the daughter could have just grown up and learned how to distinguish between ghosts and humans.
