"The Journey of Legend" has some cliche elements you would find in older wuxia dramas, and I believe they did that on purpose, but I think they failed at giving "new life" to these cliche events, thus some parts become cringy. In wuxia dramas, here are some examples that happen to make a ML stronger.
The masters transfer their lifelong skill/power to you before they die. The reason is they don't want their lifelong work to get lost after death.
You fall off a cliff, enter a cave, and find a secret manual of the most powerful skill everyone is looking for.
You kowtow in front of the master's grave, and suddenly the master's skill manual/treasure/sword appears for the taking.
You get poisoned with the deadliest poisons but luckily, mixing them together actually give you more power.
You lost all your power and break all your bones but luckily for you, it's a prerequisite needed in order to learn a powerful skill.
etc...
Not sure if all of these are in The Journey of Legend since I am only halfway through the drama.

That would be great! I hope Cheng Yi can find that one person who truly loves and deserves him, protects him, willing to do anything for him so that he can have his happy ending in real life!

Agreed. “Love and Redemption” is my favorite and to me it’s the best romantic xianxia of all times and the best ending. Yu SiFeng is my favorite character. I like Cheng Yi because of that drama.

I am at where he got forced “downloaded” 8 masters’ skills and then had the time to dig graves and bury them, all this while the Emei Golden Peak is in session. That’s cringy to me because it’s over done in so many wuxia dramas.
Other actors have 3-4 dramas a year and our Cheng Yi has only 2 dramas at most, kinda envious of their fans. But Cheng Yi’s dramas look so tiring to film so I guess it’s ok. We don’t want him to overwork. I pray 🙏 bad people will leave him alone so he can be free to do what he wants and work with the people he wants to work with.
Finished. Cheng Yi as Fugui is the most beautiful of all his roles. I enjoyed this drama. I watched all 3 and…
Unfortunately SAB is sad ending. When will we get a “Love and Redemption” ending from Cheng Yi or even an “Immortal Samsara” ending. Oh well, I will finish up “The Journey of Legend”. It’s such a cringy drama so far but still watchable just to admire the costumes and fighting and Cheng Yi.
Finished. Cheng Yi as Fugui is the most beautiful of all his roles. I enjoyed this drama. I watched all 3 and liked this one most then LIP then lastly RMP. Don’t read the below if you don’t want spoilers from LAR and IS.
One personal gripe i have with these, i think its cliche already, is that father/mother basically abuses their…
I've watched Love in Pavilion, so I understand Wangquan Hongye's perspective. You've seen the future, you're faced with armageddon in which you're not strong enough to stop it and feel hopeless. Your loved ones believed in you and followed you to their death. Your only chance to save the world is to produce a child who inherits the strongest abilities. Your beloved wife scarified herself for this cause. There is no room for error.
Binged episode 1 - 5. So good! I got emotional and cried, tissue in hand. Watching the ML reminds me of seeing babies' first experiences. How awe he is in the tiniest things like the little flowers, the sunset, lakes, trees, etc. They all seem precious. That's why he wanted to help a helpless, adorable tiny little spider trying her best to survive.
