🎬 Midnight Marathoner | Drama Enthusiast & Night OwlÂ
If it's past midnight and the world is asleep, chances are I’m deep into another drama binge. What started as a simple escape turned into a passion—I now live for stories that leave a lasting impact. Whether it's a heart-wrenching melodrama, a psychological thriller, or a beautifully tragic romance, I crave narratives that make me feel.
📌 How it all began?
The first K-drama I ever watched was She Was Pretty. I stumbled upon a YouTube clip where a girl asks her best friend to take her place when meeting an old childhood friend, her first crush. She had changed over the years and didn’t want him to see what she had become. That hit me hard because, at the time, I was struggling with bullying and felt the same kind of pain. I started watching it, unaware of the cultural shock waiting for me. By the end of 16 episodes, I wasn’t exactly in love with K-dramas. I thought I had wasted my time.Â
Then, I watched Boys Over Flowers—and while the toxicity was overwhelming, it still felt underwhelming as a show. I almost gave up on K-dramas altogether until I decided to take a darker route. That’s when Vincenzo changed everything for me. It had comedy, action, corruption, and pure madness. I laughed at the quirks, raged at the injustice, and mourned the losses. By the end, I had officially joined the corn salad fandom. That was the moment I realized: Okay, I’m in. K-dramas are for me.
🎥 Firsts that shaped my journey 🎥Â
- First K-Drama: She Was Pretty – Started my drama journey, even if it wasn’t love at first sight.
- First K-Movie: My Name is Loh Kiwan – Watched it for Song Joong-ki and stayed for the heartbreak. This film was raw, emotional, and absolutely gut-wrenching in the best way possible. The journey of a North Korean defector trying to survive in Belgium was heavy, but the acting was phenomenal.
- First C-Drama: Hidden Love – This one was a heart-stealer. The soft romance, the slow burn, and the way Duan Jiaxu always made Sang Zhi feel safe—it had my heart melting. Unlike many typical male leads, Duan Jiaxu wasn’t cold or arrogant. He was warm, patient, and respectful.Â
- First J-Movie: Drawing Closer – This movie broke me in the best way possible. The story of two terminally ill people—a girl with six months left to live and a boy with a year—finding solace in each other was heartbreakingly beautiful. The moment he decided to live on, just long enough to fulfill his promise of submitting an artwork to an exhibition, only to pass away years later on her death anniversary... that hit deep. The film leaves us with the hope that maybe they reunited in the afterlife. A masterpiece in emotional storytelling.Â
- First Thai Drama: F4 Thailand – I watched it hoping for a better version of Boys Over Flowers, and I was so right. It still had its fair share of toxicity, but this time, I actually saw growth from the bullies. Thyme was still a brat, but he learned. I also loved how this version focused more on Thyme and Gorya rather than dragging out the whole Ren-Gorya thing. And the OST? Absolute bangers. Who Am I is still one of my top songs—I don’t even know the language, but I love singing it anyway!
- First Thai Movie: Congrats My Ex – I was already a Bright fan thanks to F4 Thailand, so of course, I had to check this out. Loved the mix of humor, drama, and the whole ex-lovers dynamic. Also, Hey Shava? Absolute jam. It's been stuck in my head ever since!
