YXS fandom is bigger than Lusi's fandom, Esther is an Idol first. I think Lusi has a bigger drama fans base though

Lets see, briefly: her mom thought her daughter is safe but when she saw her child was captured and brought as slave in the pearl diving farm, she knew she can protect her only if she wont reveal her identity. She looks harsh, but woman learned her girl how to survive in farm, prepared DW to take her place learning her how to keep accounting etc. She dint want DW go for that big pearls, risking her life. Also she changed her pearl coz she knew there is no chance to escape from pearl farm, DW would be killed, never be free.
When they ran to the boat, mom gave her the bloody pearl, she revealed her identity, ask her child to find her father, coz her mind was set to do what she always did: to protect her, this time doing the supreme sacrifice, trying to give DW more time to escape. Girl was shocked to find out the truth, was hard to let her die, kept begging her to come with her. Someone had to push that cork and gain time for the ones on it to depart from shore. One more person on the cork would make it slower, they would be all captured
Scene is full of emotions, indeed, but is high valuable

Secondary chars in TSOPG almost all die in ep 18, which prepare the transition to the next arc. I dont sense why these chars would have bigger screen time. New chars come to join the party.
ML, SML, SFL, 3rd ML, 3rd SML have important screen time in second part of the story, chars have their own arc, char development, new romance line for a new cp etc.
I saw some time ago a post about char screen time, it looks balanced. I dare to say, for a big female centered drama, it's too balanced, but this was ZLS wish for this part of story line:)
If TSOPG will end the way is now, this will be ZLS best drama and DW/SMZ char the most complex one. But it's too soon to say that, not even half of content is out.
About acting, this is also her best till now. Mediocre? acting not matching FL char? Do we watch the same drama?

TSOPG is the first drama which opens the series of business woman theme (3 dramas).
Its plot is really different from costume dramas that are airing these days. I can say that coz I'm watching it

All fans praise their fav and I think is normal to be this way

Comparing 2 dramas which are airing in the same time is also a common thing on chinese platforms. Yxh do it for clout, also fans fights means data for dramas during airing

I think (personal opinion) fans or part of them are kinda upset coz this article ref to Nov 8. Are days when TSOPG topped chinese charts, it topped even yunhe on Nov 6 when the other drama was on 3rd place. Beginning with Nov 5 TSOPG is airing on 3 tv chans, the number of views arent included in data charts. Heat also ref to platforms.
TSOPG already proved, being the fastest drama to hit the highest heat index for Youku this year. DW char broke 9.32, is the highest for fem chars in 2024.
When 3 most awaited dramas (soon 5 or 6) will be aired in the same time, ppl shouldnt expect brilliant data for them, audience split. It's also a normal thing. If these dramas would be aired in diff months, they would exploded

I'm also honestly surprised of the success of your fav drama, in the context that another big IP about a game (SAF) didnt do great this year. But as far I'm not watching this drama, I refrain to comment more coz it wouldnt be fair to bark about something I dont know.

TSOPG is a good drama, with an interesting story line (slavery is not common in chinese dramas), with a tiny romance line, with chars that have their own arc, allowing them to have their own development. Cinematography is one of a kind. Acting is good, also Osts
If this drama will continue this way, it will be Zhao Lusi's best, DW char is complex at is till now her best (also personal opinion). Her acting in this drama, also her best

The investment of Beijing Culture in this drama should be a guaratee of its quality
