Be warned that it is a common trope in chinese stories (especially in fantasy). If you are going to watch more…
Love and redemption, Ashes of Love, Ancien Love Poetry, The BlueWwhisper, Immortal Sansara and Back from the Brink, if I'm not mistaken. (Sorry, I took the liberty of answering)
I truly don't get why Kim would say that he likes Mek in the middle of the living room in front of his sister.…
I don't think it's about Mek being surprised Kim likes him. It's because now he feels like he has to say it back, which (according to his ex) is something that's hard for him to do. Some people are not good at saying words like this, they're better at showing their feelings through action (like Bear said... I think it was Bear). Stating things also makes them more real even when it's already obvious they're true, and Mek is even more pressured because (1) of the fact that Kim made the moment public so he put him on the spot, and (2) he is considering going away to study and we know from his previous relationship that he does not think long-distance can work, so he might also be hesitant to officially state his feelings because he's clueless about his future. So I think it makes sense Mek is a bit shaken up.
That being said I agree the next episode preview feels like they're gonna add some bunch of useless drama, mostly with Tim coming back in the picture. My Secret Love has been very good at writing supportive relationships with people that eventually communicate and understand each other, so I hope they don't drag it on too much.
