Sweet and slow love story ๐. The essence of the story is both ML and FL mutually being attracted to each other during high school but not taking the step forward since each doesn't know the other's intentions. Liu Chang is a character struggling between emotions and fate. He has the pure ideal of a scholar pursuing a confidante, but he also shoulders the shackles of family honor. He thinks he is noble, but he compromises again and again in front of his family and power. His scholar's nobleness and arrogance seem weak in the face of reality.
He loves He Weifang, but he doesn't know how to love. His "love" is full of selfishness and possessiveness. He Weifang lives the life he wants and becomes the light he longs for. It seems like redemption, but this pursuit makes him paranoid and sick. This contradiction and struggle made him both hateful and pitiful. He tried to resist, but when his spine was broken, he chose to retaliate by any means necessary, instead of gritting his teeth and standing up like He Weifang.
