Very interesting article. I think the country that I received the most culture shock from was Thailand, mainly cuz I was exposed more to the other cultures at a younger age. What fascinates me the most is the education system of all of these countries, which is so different than my own. I'm sure various schools have different methods. The way some schools break out classes by level of "smartness" always seemed interesting. I guess I have something similar in my country in the form of AP and Honor system, but imagine doing slightly poorly in exams that you get transferred to another classroom. The way some students grades get publicly posted so everyone can see is kind of scary. I'm used to grades being a private matter cuz it could lead to bullying, etc.
Public baths seem like a fun bonding experience, but I don't think i could go to one. I've seen some food combinations that were a bit of a culture shock, but then I tried them and it was actually pretty good.
I don't have an issue with heartbreaking ending (in fact, I loved the twist), but what I had an issue with was that it was his bro that told her years later. You would think SOMEONE would've informed his friends/former classmates at the time it happened. Word travels. There needed to be more explanation regarding this. I'm just flabbergasted by the extreme ending and nonsensical explanation.
You have to watch this as a makjang more so than for the music or the mystery/thriller elements. As a makjang it's a fun ride, even if it is predictable. It had me hooked until the end.
The beginning was great, but I really struggled getting through this mainly because it was sooo long and slow paced (though the romance progressed fairly quickly). They added a lot more content that wasn't in the novel. By the end it was just food, naps, and making out.
It depends on your taste. Just a heads up, jdramas tend to be less romance oriented overall, but I also included some romances. The comedy and acting styles are also a bit different.
I held off on watching most of these. No wonder I was in a slump. :/ For the ones I've seen, I totally agree, although Meet Yourself is a bit too relaxing when I'm in a slump state and keeps putting me to sleep. I personally switched to watching more Jdramas in 2023 and that helped my slump a little. Thanks for the recs.
I waited until it ended to binge the whole thing. It was so worth it. I didn't feel the draggyness as much as those who watched it while it was airing. That being said the last few episodes were a bit slow and repetitive with the past life flashbacks. We didn't need to see those scenes 3 or 4 times. @_@ Other than that, the drama was totally adorable. Highly recommend for dog/animal lovers.
