The pheromones and it's effects can change, the time period can change, some stories have heats and ruts while others don't, and even the hierarchy is diff in certain stories.

Well, have you given a thought that perhaps, ppl in different parts of the world and from different cultures interact in different ways? Even in the same cultures and region, two ppl will never behave or act in the same way, which ofc, adds flavour to life! And I believe this is true to not just the gay community, but most structures in human society.

Well, to go in deeper, and to prevent misunderstandings, can you please specify which part of the characters' interactions or behaviours makes you feel that it's too different from reality?

I'm late but I really love this show so I feel like I should say something to this detailed analysis

1. Therapy - Here's the thing, therapy in a lot of Asian countries, esp middle to low middle income ones, is EXPENSIVE. Too expensive for middle class ppl in a lot of cases, and def too expensive for someone who's barely keeping up with finances, and ofc, we must pay mind to the pandemic recession. Plus, in said countries,, if you're opting for therapy, you'd be branded a 'lunatic' or a 'crazy' person, regardless of what category of mental illness you're actually suffering from. This is present in the so called 'upper', 'educated parts of the society, and ofc, in the fringes. where Jim is in, the prejudice is more prominent.

2. Internalized homophobia - Poor and Gay. Jim suffers from being victimized himself. His relationship with his ex was never brought to light, most likely out of shame. And as we later know, he hails from a rural village, at a time when lgbt education was non-existant. No healthy discussions about your sexuality and self. Is he wrong for saying this? Yes, but when you think from his pov, it is justified. He loves liming, and doesn't want the boy to suffer like he did himself. He wants liming to study well, get a stable job and just have a good life. Very asian parent of him.

3. Nice Guy Jim - well, why shouldn't ppl like Jim? He's attractive, kind and helpful. About Wen being perfect...well...he's not, tho? He's messy in relationships, he has his own shit to deal with. Plus, do all characters need to be perfectly equal on the good vs bad scale? Some are a little better, some are a little worse. Isn't that life?

4. Age - Emotional maturity. I'm sure a most of us, or atleast a lot of ppl have seen their elders n parents being BAD at emotional maturity, while ppl much younger than them are better at emotions. I like how you assume age=emotional maturity :) Jim has issues with emotions, Alan and Wen were perhaps the so called high school who turned awry in later years. As for Heart and Liming... idk why, their character felt realistic enough to me. Perhaps a little to perfect, but I'm willing to give them a little leeway.

5. Age as end of dream - I believe MLC shows us that age ISN'T the end of dreams. Mlc ends with new beginnings. New business and love for Jim and Wen, new relationship for Alan n Gaipa, new parenthood and dreams for Saleng and Praew, and a whole new future for Heart and Liming. Idk why, to me it seems that mlc emphasizes on how age literally doesn't matter in starting something new. You can do it any time.

6. Thai checklist - I believe it did so much more than that, But idk, ig I haven't watched enough bls yet or smt? (Not hold years of reading and writing queer fiction cause bls, apparently have a checklist undiscovered by me still). Also, this is a 8 ep show. I felt they packed it nicely enough? But this is rather debatable owo

Also, we get single moms, realistic het relationship, ppl with jobs etc as bonuses???

It IS time to leave blue shorts behind for a bit, or cut it down by some percentage. That said, the most heart touching relationship in MLC, for me, was Alan wen in terms of realism. (and Earthmix for chemistry...there was smt so...smouldering abt them!)

Sometimes, predictable plot lines with low stakes are the sweetest.

I watched around ep 7, that's watching over half the show. I do believe it's possible to leave a review halfway. Also, when I commented, there were reviews bashing on the show, and so I felt it was necessary to talk about it's good parts too :)
I'm going to go back and finish watching the show before editing it with my final thoughts. :)
Idk what you trust or not, and yeah, reviews can be misleading sometimes. As I said before, we all have our preferences. It's ok to not like a show...but I also believe we should be kinder with our words.
(btw, you shouldn't hate watch things you dislike. You watch 1-2 eps, and don't like it, maybe drop the show instead of forcing yourself to watch? It's better for our minds, I'll say.)
And tbh, at this point, I've read enough mafia au and arranged marriage au from ao3 to like BOTH Kinnporsche and Cutie Pie. They have their own flavours :D
