The kid's phone was destroyed though. Also in terms of hoe long the reporter has been there in comparison to the info/evidence she's gotten its easy to assume she hasn't obtained much because the group doesn't trust anyone easily. Up until recently the person feeding Sang Mi's mother her medication was Ms. Kang. I think after the while, when the group deems someone trustworthy-ish, then they delegate tasks to them.
