I gotta admit that this is pretty great. Complex characters with complex feelings and issues. This drama is genuinely very well written. Much more enjoyable than the novel (although it could be that the translation wasn't great).
This drama keeps pissing me off. I'm trying to watch without using my brain too much but the characters's motives aren't explained well enough and they are acting incredibly stupid. AJ is going out entertaining JH for literally no good reason and I'm like ??? Why??? It's not she likes him yet so why is her character incapable of setting boundaries? Also. If I was friends with a gay guy who asked me to marry him so he can live a quiet life, I'd be a bit more careful. Like she will obviously ruin this whole thing because of the weird relationship she has with JH. And I already think that DH is not ready to be out. And his ex will be a problem as well. I think the drama should have made it more clear that AJ and DH were technically friends for a long time but they knew basically nothing about each other's lives except for DH's big secret. They just aren't really acting like friends at all because the drama is focusing on AJ's and JH's relationship and AJ and DH's scenes are always them trying to act a certain way in front of DH's family. They need to show me these two being actual friends. You can't just say that characters are friends and not show them being friends in the current moment. Sure AJ was probably weirded out about DH not telling that he is a chaebol but they were supposedly friends for a really long time. I need to SEE the god damn friendship because for know neither of them is acting like they're friends. JH is my biggest headache. For the love of god. Give me some background on why JH is so obsessed with DH inheriting the company. I can't like his character at all before you give me some excuses for his behavior. It's not normal to try and control your brother's life like this. I genuinely need to see some tears when JH finds out what DH is actually hiding.
oops, I guess I was wrong. Maybe it would have been better if she was just pretending. Now I'm conflicted over both of these characters. It feels incredibly disgusting to be happy over your wife being terminally ill, no matter how bad your current relationship is. If he really loved her so much JUST three years ago, would a normal person really be happy as an initial reaction? Like yeah now you don't need to get a divorce but has she really done something bad enough for him to be happy that she is dying? I need to see this whole drama right now or I'll spent the next week being frustrated.
I can't deny that not finding the other ML attractive is a huge minus but what's even worse is the plot and the utter lack of chemistry between the leads. Where the hell is the chemistry? I have to give a huge shoutout to the director for making this drama incredibly unappealing to watch as well. The camera angles and music choices are ridiculously bad. The worst show I've watched in 2024.
Episode 12 was so intense I thought for a second that it's the last episode. Honestly, this drama has been incredibly satisfying to watch so far. I really hope the writing stays consistent until the end.
Obsessed with this drama. Only the visual outlook of this drama is great but the chemistry is amazing. Just the looks from Wei Zhi Yuan are intense. I feel like I'm blushing.
I also hope for some serious character growth but that just makes mls character so weak and a literal doormat.…
But the ML literally is afraid to divorce her because he knows the grandfather will put him through hell for it. I think the hug at the end was his remaining feelings for her but also this is his best way of getting out of the marriage. Maybe he is acting super nice towards her so she will add him in her will.
I'm honestly not sure if I like this. Kim Soo Hyun and Kim Ji Won are both amazing iconic actors but this is just gender roles swapped and overdone to the point that I'm kinda horrified if ppl are finding the husbands suffering somehow not valid. The FL seems like a psychopath and I need her to have some aggressive character growth and a background story into how they were in love but now live like two enemies only 3 years of marriage later. I genuinely do not think for a second that the FL is dying but it kinda makes this worse. She is the one who is like an enemy towards her husband so why would she do this?
The brothers really need to have a heart to heart and open communication because their relationship seems so on…
Strongly agree with you. All of these relationships are very superficial. Do Han and Ah Jung might be friends but they knew almost nothing about each other's lives. The brothers barely talk and Do Han doesn't seem to be able to trust Ji Han at all.
Storywise, Lee Do Han left his partner in the USA sneaking out like a thief. That's not a good sign regarding…
Huh? Maybe it was just a one-night stand or something? I don't think that makes Do Han a bad person. It could be that it's simply hard for him to be in relationships since he seems to be very concerned about hiding his sexuality from everyone. Internalized homophobia mixed with fear of being abandoned by his family maybe.
Ep 2 was a bit messy. I understand the character motives but I also don't. I feel for Lee Do Han but I also kinda don't understand his plan. It seems like he wants out of this life completely and he is fine with walking out of the chaebol family. But he could do that without faking a marriage couldn't he? I'm not sure if this is mostly about him wanting to appear perfect while denying his sexuality but if it is.. boy this is gonna be sad since the truth will come out at some point. I get Ah Jung refusing to marry him but it's kinda weird to tell your friend to just get married to someone who they will never be able to love. Just because they'll get a company. Like money might make life easy but that amount of money and responsibility won't. The little brother weirds me out. He doesn't know that his brother is gay and miserable trying to hide that from everyone. Okay fair enough. People can't know everything if you don't tell them. But it is weird to push your brother to get the company when he clearly doesn't want to?? I'm confused over Ji Han's motives for all of this. This just doesn't make him seem like a good brother. Edit: I wrote it weirdly but I meant that it was a bit weird for Ah Jung to tell Do Han to just get married because he will inherit the company that way. I understand that Do Han sees Ah Jung as his only option to make everyone else happy while not having to marry for real.
Honestly this was a good first episode. I'm very excited for the next one. But in all honesty, I will be pissed if this drama ends without Lee Do Han being happy with an actual boyfriend (I'm not sure if the American one is a serious relationship since the actor looked like a minor role who will not get any lines ....) Just give that man a good ending and please give him that screentime...
So far this seems great. Interesting story and actually good cinematography. The acting seems quite good as well. I get that people can be concerned about the age gap and power dynamic but I wouldn't jump into any negative conclusion just yet. This is a 12-episode drama so there is a lot of time to develop their relationship.
Just finished watching this and wow what a roller coaster of emotions. Especially the last 8 episodes were intense. I couldn't stop watching despite the bad subtitles. Highkey can recommend this drama at least when there are fan subs for the whole thing. For now I would wait unless you know some Chinese so you can understand when the subtitles are completely wrong.
it's hard to feel happy or giddy for characters you don't like yet.
