no they aren't blood related. The guy is 'adopted' but basically his parents passed away and so his dad's friend took him in. He stayed with the girl's family for a few fears when they were kids but girl's parents divorced so he went with the dad (his dad's friend) and she stayed with her mum. They meet 10 years later. The girl finds out they aren't related from the ep 1 before they reunite and the guy always knew because he's older than her by a few years.
