The plot/storyline/tone that was introduced, was completely and very quickly lost in this series. There were also a lot of camera and editing issues that made this feel like a college project. Even so, the actors were a cute nice pairing, and you were left with a story where love grows from an arrangement. It had some sweet moments, so if you watch with no expectations, you can enjoy it for what it is.
Is there a season 2? I can’t believe we didn’t even get to the main goal here. I was invested within the first 5 minutes, and loved and felt every minute of this incredible movie. Brilliant is how I would describe it. The chemistry of the leads was not only incredible, but their character portrayals were so expressive, powerful and just spectacular. The hard work and technique put into this is obvious and the payoff well worth it. Thank you for such a beautiful artistic piece!!!
I just want to say that the tomato costume totally got in the way of the romance moment in ep 7. I can’t watch them be in their moment with the costume staring back at all of us. He wore it way too long in that scene.😜
Well written, well acted, well filmed, and the suspense kept me hanging til the end. Impressive!! Great job to everyone involved!! Would love a spinoff of Dr Nil and Alex’s story.
So, I didn’t have too much of a problem with this series. I enjoyed it for what it was. Really liked all the actors, especially Tongtong. So angry and upset every scene and I really felt it! I was worried the actor might have a stroke he played it so well. But that last episode was a no for me. Did the writers and director just quit at that point?
No parts of the shootout in ep 10 made sense. They didn’t grab their guns when they had opportunity? Heck, they didn’t even bring guns or backup already knowing who they are up against. The fact that they were all shot and/or stabbed but they didn’t shoot/stab them back when they had the chance blows my mind! I mean, Than was a cop, but it was like he forgot his training and was never prepared or landed a shot . The fact that Offroad’s character didn’t even get in the car and just stood there to get shot multiple times was crazy as well.
Their reunion was not how someone would react and way too lowkey to be believable. Another ep would have rounded out the story a lot better.
Ending was so disappointing. Credit to the rest though.
I thought this was sweetly told. The tone was slightly off from the main story, but it was interesting to watch. The actors were still good (happy to see them), yet this addition left me feeling as incomplete as the original piece did. There’s so much more that could be told which is a shame, but I’d still recommend a watch.
Even with the script issues and rushed ending, I was still entertained watching this. The cast was good looking and acted well, and while the chemistry was not strong, I enjoyed the pairs and seeing everyone in this. Maybe it was the fresh merman concept(as I could see the efforts put into this) or the lure of when the secrets would come out, but it held my attention as I binged the whole thing and I can honestly say I liked it.
I never expect anything from a short, cuz let’s face it, they are almost all cheesy/bad. Kimmon and Neel have good chemistry though. Would like to see them again. I liked the cast and plot.
I can’t fathom the stupidity of this princess. She chooses her brother’s enemy over her brother because of a short one time interaction with this idiot prince. Is this poor writing of her characters story because I see nothing else building her bond with him. How am I supposed to believe her insanity? The only thing I’m not liking about this.
Huge fan of Boun/Prem, and waited so long for these guys to be in their next series. Revamp has been a long awaited one with both good and bad aspects to talk about. The original concept was like lightning hitting us all, and as suspected, GMMTV got their hands on it and watered it down to their usual formats.
I have to place all blame on the company, because they didn’t put any real money into this(even with CGI), and they are just not willing to take risks. How many superior BL’s have been made just this year alone by smaller companies who put effort and money into its craft. I feel like this could have contended with those easily, so it’s hard to not be disappointed.
The actors performed great considering what they were given with some stand out moments. Boun’s script and concept for this was just what we all wanted in a story, and I give him so much credit for working hard for this!
The CGI was good, and I especially enjoyed the crow transformations. I can’t fathom the lack of creativity in hair and makeup though. They all looked like they were in college instead of either dead or sexy(though Boun’s always that). The exception was aging Feratu, which looked believable. The action scenes were not strong, but I’ll also give credit to the actors efforts for their scenes.
Oddly, the vampires had all the power but were filmed as such weak susceptible beings. It was too easy to watch the story holes happen in the hunters overpowering them. This did not allow the viewer to feel any real power from the characters.
I feel Boun/Prem need another series together to showcase even more who they. This series was fluffy, full of feelings and not what you’d expect. Good for a light watch, especially if you like the actors, but you finish it feeling uninvested.
Having seen the originals, I could follow and piece this together. It seems like they just took a chunk from the middle of the series and tried to micro focus on that section of the story. But without any foundation to build it, it really doesn’t stand on its own.
I will say that I enjoyed the entire cast selection. I felt they had chemistry. However, it really wasn’t written for the actors to develop their characters enough to either showcase it or allow the audience to bond enough to feel it. So I’ll just say it’s the writers and direction, not the actors fault.
Incredible short story! These characters had so much depth and chemistry that it made me want a longer journey for them. Even without the length, it gets right to the point and has you engrossed from the first moment. What a great acting team up! Even the opening music was really good for this drama. It’s a 10 for me!!
Like both versions, but this is not better than the original.
The script was okay on its own, but if you compare, the characters and story really weren’t developed enough. They hacked away at all the content building scenes and pertinent dialogue. It’s a busy, lengthy story (4 character mains to boot)and cutting it down to 30 min episodes was too much. I felt a lack of connectivity with some scenes, due to the missing developments. If I hadn’t seen the original, I wouldn’t have connected it as well.
Not as scenic as the original either. I didn’t feel a lot of location investment.
Anyways, the biggest highlight were the actors which were a great pick for this! Loved how comfortable they were and their chemistry. Acting was very suitable to the characters. All their scenes were performed well.
Overall, I was entertained by this and think it’s about a 7.5 rating.
This series has such a mixed bag of elements to it. There were definitely problems here and there between editing, filming continuity, story and the rushed ending.
I liked the casting of all the actors, but wish the main couple had committed more to the role to show a better depiction of a real relationship. It felt like they called themselves boyfriends most of the time but didn’t convey any realistic interactions that could create their chemistry.
Despite its problems, it was cute and worth a watch. Always love Fluke and Poppy for great performances.
Especially to wrap up Gao Tu and Wenlang’s characters. I was also frustrated with their story arc when I read this. Although, because I read it first and understood more details, I’m not as shocked and disappointed as someone who hasn't read it.
The series was pretty true to the original novel, with it lacking details at certain parts. 16 ep is on the longer side for a BL series, but the details could have been explained better with 2 more episodes. I always believe, if a story is written well enough(like this one), it doesn’t matter how long it is, I’ll invest my time in it.
I found it pretty unique and enjoyed all of it! Loved the cast and thought this was a really great production and portrayal for omegaverse/BL fans.
The concept of this was good, but the execution of the story seemed to lose itself and focus on elements it didn’t need to. The cast was enjoyable, and Jimmy/Sea were adorable. They are really good actors and it’s a shame the script didn’t live up to them. Lots of elements in this that made me smile.
Really liked the second couple and was sorry they didn’t get a fully developed story. Would like to see them appear again.
The ending clip was just the best!! Thank you for filming this scene. I picture their friendship quite close like that.
