Cannot reconcile the warrior Ming Xian with the childish baby voice and delicate feminine persona of Ming Yi. Its like Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde. I don’t know if it is the actor’s inexperience or the writer’s fault but they really choose to ignore her warrior identity when she is Ming Yi, preferring her to act with a baby voice. Really undermines the strong personality she is supposed to portray when she embodies Ming Xian. That baby voice is not endearing. If anything it gets close to being annoying.
Hou minghao on the other hand is a great actor. I really liked him in Back from the Brink. He had plenty of chemistry with the female lead in that series. But here in LITC there is little chemistry with the FL. Sure there are plenty of intimate moments, and that should have been an opportunity for great chemistry. But sadly chemistry is lacklustre and forced. They look like good mates instead.
Just finished this. PXR is an amazing actress. Her FL portrayal was really heart breaking. I really hate Li Chengyin and how he treats XiaoFeng. Does he really love her? I can’t buy it.

Just realised that the actress who plays Mu Yao was also in Eternal Love … she played Xuan Nu the cray cray one. Almost didn’t recognise her as she was so much saner here 😂
Probably will get bashed. But this drama was very boring. Was excited because it had Esther Yu from LBFAD but…
I think the story gets better as the series progresses. Plus the focus is on the 4 characters and their interpersonal relationship. I agree that the start is so-so, after the first 7 or so episodes I thought about dropping it. But am glad I didn’t. The plot and fantasy world building gets richer and better.
