Article Song Jae Rim reportedly left a suicide note, was harassed on social media
Way to go Korea, you murdered yet another talented artist/entertainer. Another one makes an "extreme decision,"…
The toxic nature of South Korea’s idol and celebrity culture is deeply troubling. Actors, singers, and other public figures often live under intense public scrutiny, with every aspect of their personal lives subject to invasive monitoring and harsh judgment. Talent agencies play a significant role in perpetuating this environment, enforcing restrictive contracts that dictate not only their professional obligations but also their private choices, from relationships to social interactions. This lack of autonomy is dehumanizing and unsustainable, contributing to mental health struggles and even tragic outcomes for many in the industry. As consumers, we have the power to demand change. Boycotting South Korean movies, dramas, and other media could send a clear message to the industry: that we value the well-being of the artists as much as their work and expect meaningful reforms to ensure they can lead balanced, dignified lives.
