So much friendship and respect! I didn't know that much about Esther before this drama, will definitely watch her past shows after this one. She's awesome.

And why does it hint that there will be modern era???
Isn't this question more like 'which type of drama do you prefer to act in'. Not about CLJ.

When he calmly said, "this is the third time you've poisoned my wine" I fell out.
Phantom Thread feels. If the writers had that film in mind for the poison scenes I absolutely salute them.

I liked Dylan in The rational life, but I love him here. He's done a fantastic job portraying dongfang qingcang
That was my first Cdrama... I'm a newbie. The whole ensemble was fantastic. The only time I've been grateful for a Netflix algorithm recommendation, opened up a whole new world!

Let's give Dylan credit where it's due, he has grown enormously as an actor, but his adorkable microexpressions go way back to Meteor Garden. He has been pulling a lot of faces that remind me of favourite MG moments.

Can I just write a Shang Que (Actor Charles) appreciation post here. His facial expressions are hilarious and…
Was great as the sidekick/bodyguard in A Use for My Talent too.

The burning Ranxi plant in episode 17: isn't it a Waratah? In real life, this flower is an emblem flower in my country and was also traditionally used for medicinal purposes. How fascinating then the way XLH uses this flower here!

dylan wang doing awsome acting. i recommend to finish it metor garden it was enjoyable it's the almost this drama…
I get strong Daoming Si vibes too. Love it. Also I don’t know why but Changheng visually reminds me of Li Zhen 😂 Dylan was fantastic in MG and brilliant here.

the choice of a MENA aesthetic for the devil's lair does not go unnoticed, puts a bitter taste in my mouth. bastardized…
Yes there are very obvious Moroccan/Moorish elements to the decor. There's also scenes of DFQC sitting on an Anglican chair, and some outfits around his neckline have Indian Sari fabrics (the one with the high neck that is sort of flecked red and green). I can only assume the designers deliberately wanted to draw from a range of non-Chinese influences for the Cangyan Sea. These are all design styles I appreciate on their own, but a little odd to see them together. Despite that, I adore this show.
